Clarke assessment of Condi Rice “facial expression” was wrong

Sigh …

Just what is UP with this guy? Here’s what he said about NSA Condi Rice’s “facial expression” when he talked to her about Al Qaeda:

Clarke, Bush’s former counterterrorism coordinator, had said among other things that national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, “looked skeptical” when she was warned early in 2001 about the threat from al-Qaida.

“Her facial expression gave me the impression that she had never heard the term before,” Clarke wrote in his new book — “Against All Enemies” — that is scathingly critical of Bush’s response to the 2001 terror attacks against New York and Washington. *snip article*

HUH? Let’s rewind back to October 2000 to an interview Ms. Rice did on WJR-AM in Detroit w/ David Newman:

RICE: Osama bin Laden, do two things, the first is you really have to get the intelligence agencies better organized to deal with the terrorist threat to the United States itself. One of the problems that we have is a kind of split responsibility, of course, between the CIA in foreign intelligence and the FBI in domestic intelligence. There needs to be better cooperation because we don’t want to wake up one day and find out that Osama bin Laden has been successful on our own territory. (etc.)

Hmmmm …..
