The beauty that surrounds us

Just chillin’ tonight and taking an evening break from the crazy world of politics. Glass of wine on one side of my keyboard and a sleeping, purring kitty on the other.

Tonight I was headed out the door to pick up some groceries when I noticed the most beautiful butterfly sitting on the shutters right outside the door. I quietly opened the door back up, went inside the house and grabbed my digital camera and took several photos. The two below were the best (in my opinion) of the lot. I had taken a couple of them that were closer, but novice photographer I am, part of a wing looks chopped off in each of the two closer ones so I’m not posting them here (by the way, these are pictures of the same butterfly, just at different angles):

Butterfly - front view

Butterfly - sideview

Aren’t those colors magnificent? A better photographer with a nicer camera would have done a really fantastic job at getting the perfect photos but I don’t think I did such a bad job with my cheap digital camera :)

Sometimes ya just have to stop and smell the roses. Or in this case, stop and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

FYI: A couple of plugins are going to be installed on the blog tonight by the fine folks at Elegant Webscapes. One of the plugins is a spam killer and I’m going to be doing some playing around to get the settings right once it is installed – so if you experience a delay longer than usual with seeing your comments posted here, don’t fret – if it’s not spam or insulting, it’ll get posted. I’m just going to have to get used to the settings. If I accidentally delete a comment in the process, my apologies in advance! Bear with me as the ST blog is will be undergoing a bit of reconstruction over the next few weeks :)
