There are no lights on most of the stretch running through the base. At night its like a coal sac its so dark. Even though a lot of riders from the base and area use it, and its marked with bike lanes, its dangerous after dark. I live only 2 miles from the interchange mentioned and have driven it thousands of times since it was built. Many close shaves with coyotes and deer that wander across the base outskirts from Scripps Ranch, and some nights when the fog was so bad you couldn't see three feet to drive.
