Interesting .. well, at least it sounds like most of ‘em weren’t making excuses for the looters. I’ve seen a bit too much of that today.

We talked about this a bit this morning in class…I asked a kid who’s in student council (bright kid…good kid…a little left, but what can you do?) if there were any plans to raise money or supplies, especially after all our school did for tsunami relief…she said nobody’s brought it up because nobody really watches the news. Man, did I get upset. One girl’s from New Orleans and was trying to explain how the city was set up. She says her family got out years ago because they were afraid just this would happen. Another kid said he sympathized with the looters. The rest of the kids nearly ripped her to shreds.

Man. Messed up.

It is disappointing that cops were among the looters, but I’m not dumbstruck over that news, having several of NOLA’s finest in my social circle down there and having heard a lot of inside stories during long evenings over drinks at various bars.

It’s not hard to figure out why a lot of law abiding Nawlins natives don’t trust their local police.

People stranded with children to feed will do desperate things. However, looters for mechandise, should be shot. I really feel for those there, and especially those trying to maintain order. My neighbor, a lineman, left out this morning. His company called last night told him to pack, a least for a month……………. So I get to take care fo his kids and yardwork… Who knows where this will actually take us… I would hate to be in Iraq or Afgan and watch my state get blown away and flooded. Not able to contact family.. And could do nothing… God, that would be an awful situation….

REading the update on Michelle Malkin’s post, I see the Louisianna governor has requested the national guard. I would not be surprised to see a much-needed declaration of martial law in New Orleans. There is no reason for looters to be laying siege on a children’s hospital.
