As for Richard’s post above, you can watch Governor Blanco caught on tape as she tells her press secretary “I really should call for the military,” at http://impeachblanco.org

The sick part is seeing her giggle as she says “You know, I put good people in jeopardy.” You sure did, Kathleen.

By denying the Red Cross access to the evacuees at the Superdome and Convention Center, by not sending in the Louisiana National Guard to support the NOPD, by not evacuating the hospitals and nursing homes per the LA State Emergency Operations Plan, you put a lot of good people in jeopardy. And some of them are dead now.

After CNN aired that video, the Governor addressed the Louisiana Legislature and admitted mistakes were made. “The buck stops here,” she said. Since then she has backpedaled, admitting she is responsible only for “assuming that help was on the way.”

Well, help is on the way, and until Governor Kathleen Blanco is removed from office and replaced with a competent individual who can make decisions and accept responsibility, I will not rest.

Blanco has already given it up.

She was caught between interviews, on a live camera, talking to her aide and saying that she should have ask for troops on the first call.

When confronted with the facts she did an about face. Told the state legislature that “the buck stops here, I should have called for troops sooner.”

Additionally she said that the people of Louisanna have a friend in G W Bush.

- Had to love it when Blanco was being interviewed and seemed to be so unraveled and out of touch she forgot who the Governor of the state was. To Wit:

Reporter: So then are you saying it was the duty of the Federal Government to activate the initial emergency plan?

Blanco: “Well in an event of an emergency its the duty of the Governor….Ummm…. That would be Me… To make sure the neccessary steps blah blah blah blah”

Is Bill Clinton’s ex-FEMA director still on her payroll? Just curious. He certainly wasn’t much help unless the plan all along was to have a big mess with loss of life and then try to pin it on President Bush and the Republicans. If so, they accomplished the first half, I’m not so sure they are going to be successful with the second half.
