You can already see the effects of lessened competition on the GOP. Its power-brokers have begun to award themselves and their supporters all the perquisites the Democrats enjoyed for years. The recent pork jamboree is only the most egregious example.

Ken, a conspiracy charge is the last redoubt of a desperate prosecutor (persecutor, in this case). For years the Texas Democrats have been howling about DeLay. They got nothing. I resent your “if indicted, he’s guilty” mentality. Guess you don’t believe innocent until proven guilty.

Watch Earle go to the big house when he’s convicted for misusing his office. I hope there’s a number of Travis County co-conspirators that go with him, including Dan Rather and Rather’s daughter.

I am content to let the law decide what Delay did. And Frist too.

Individual financial scandals don’t hurt a party much in America unless the party tries to use politics to suppress the law.

My very rough assessments are that they have the goods on Delay; and Frist will walk because he initiated the process for selling several months before the price drop.

I don’t know who was more foolish – the guy who screwed up a meteoric rise by being dishonest, or the guy who screwed up his good name by fixing what wasn’t broken.

Don’t these guys get advice before they do things? They sure as hell need it afterwards.
