More and more information continues to come out showing the Bush Administration was less than honest in making the case for war against Iraq. A recent article in the LA Times states German intelligence officers said that the Bush administration and the CIA repeatedly exaggerated the claims of an informant during the run-up to the war in Iraq.

LINK

BERLIN — The German intelligence officials responsible for one of the most important informants on Saddam Hussein's suspected weapons of mass destruction say that the Bush administration and the CIA repeatedly exaggerated his claims during the run-up to the war in Iraq.

Five senior officials from Germany's Federal Intelligence Service, or BND, said in interviews with The Times that they warned U.S. intelligence authorities that the source, an Iraqi defector code-named Curveball, never claimed to produce germ weapons and never saw anyone else do so.

According to the Germans, President Bush mischaracterized Curveball's information when he warned before the war that Iraq had at least seven mobile factories brewing biological poisons. Then-Secretary of State Colin L. Powell also misstated Curveball's accounts in his prewar presentation to the United Nations on Feb. 5, 2003, the Germans said.

Curveball's German handlers for the last six years said his information was often vague, mostly secondhand and impossible to confirm.

"This was not substantial evidence," said a senior German intelligence official. "We made clear we could not verify the things he said."

The German authorities, speaking about the case for the first time, also said that their informant suffered from emotional and mental problems. "He is not a stable, psychologically stable guy," said a BND official who supervised the case. "He is not a completely normal person," agreed a BND analyst.

"Even self-identified Democrats agree: 55 percent believe criticism hurts morale, while 21 percent say it helps morale."

Ahhh, yes, criticism helps the troops morale. Yep! Sure does! Ohhhhh, yeah!

Those 21% would be the Moonbat Wing, right? Yeesh!

Steve, We can only hope the Democrats are in serious trouble with their base.

I'm assuming because only 1% of representatives voted for in favor of pulling out immediately out of Iraq.

Shows how extreme the base (rank and files) are which is scary because the leadership of the Democrat party are already scary.

steve,

Like a great many Libs, you mistake your fringe politics for being the mainstream base. People like you are driving people out of the Democrat party and ensuring not only minority status, but that you'll never win an election again.

Being an ostrich is not being enlightened or smart. Your peace is to surrender to evil.

The Democrats are in serious trouble with their base,us lefties. This fight goes back to the streets of Chicago. The Democratic base is anti-war and pro-Peace. The monied people in the Party are A-political in the sense that they follow polls for talking points. All of the presidential hopefuls, except Feingold voted yes to allow bush to go to war in Iraq. That is unfogivable,so those politicians have a problem. It is also the reason that a large percentage of Democrats believe that the politicians in their Party are just playing to the crowd. The "base" also believes that the Zionists,Armageddonists(Christian Right),Wahhabists,Opus Dei and the neo-cons have been discredited and should be marginalized. American politics may be seeing a re-alignment in political parties akin to recent events in Israel. Peace
