The lefties like yourself want to say there’s only one Iraqi batallion “able to stand on it’s own”. But there are tens of thousands of Iraqi soliders in other batallians who have been trained and are fully capable but the batallian is given logistical support by the U.S. but you WANT to discount those numerous batallions. This is a pattern by the left to misinform. Not to go off topic but when the left said for 5 months in 1995 that Republicans were cutting 270 Billion from Medicare they were factually false (just like the soldier in Iraq picture now) and as long as liberals insist on being factually false to the detriment of this countries budget and national security , etc. we cannot trust them in power. Any means to the end is NOT justified because Republicans are NOT evil giving your so-called good guys the right to any means to the end.

It makes me wonder, though – we hear, for example, that violence is on the rise (as I mentioned already), and how after 2 years only one Iraqi batallion is ready to stand on its own (although I also understand that this is largely only because we haven’t provided them the weapons, etc, they need – not becasue of any unwillingness on the Iraqis’ part). Are things on the ground better than they appear on our media, or are the Iraqis being unrealistically optimistic? Time will tell.

There have been other hints that things are improving – reports for example that Iraqis are fed up with outsiders – Arabs, Yemenis, etc – coming to Iraq to foment violence. So perhaps the numbers indicate an increasing sense of self-reliance and responsibility coming to the surface in Iraqi society?

Overall seemingly very good news.
