Christmas at the WH

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on December 13, 2005 at 2:35 pm

I know this is a bit cheesy, but I think the WH is one of the most beautiful places on earth at Christmastime. Heck, it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth anytime, but especially at Christmas.

Here’s a link to some photos of the WH Christmas decor for 2005. Make sure to click on the Barney Cam video titled “”A Very Beazley Christmas” on this page

I sure wish I had THEIR decorating budget … LOL.

I totally love this season!

I don’t know if they’ll be airing it again, but on HGTV (Home & Garden), I think, they had a special. They showed them bringing in the 17 trees, 600 yards of REAL garland, homemade wreaths, making the bows, the gingerbread White House, and a ton of other decorations.

The main tree in the Blue Room is 18 feet tall (I think that’s right), and it barely fit through the front door. And they had to have everything decorated within 48 hours of bringing it all in.

I don’t envy the White House Staff during times like this. It’d be nice to visit there, but the stress of working there would be a killer!

  2. I’ll check HGTV’s website to see if that airs again. Thanks for the tip, Brian :)

Ooh, Thanks Brian! That would be worth turning the tv on for. I agree, trying to get the WH decorated in 48 hours? I have a 3 bedroom house I’ve been working on for a week! :((

The reason for the 48 hours (it may have been a little longer) was because they had parties and functions planned, so they had to hurry and get it done.

It was a virtual army, and many were volunteers. Still: can you imagine the work that went into all that? Hand-made ornaments? The cookies? Putting all that fruit and flowers into place? Yikes!
