Ice ice baby

Here are some photos I took today of the wintry mix we had in Charlotte. The first pic was early morning (where you can see what looks like snow) and the next pic is roughly that same spot later in the day. Brrrrrr!

    Makes me homesick!

I can’t stand cold weather. Someone wake me when its May and 90 degrees outside.

The local news here is saying it’s pretty bad your way with lots of ice and the power is out. Stay warm! (Good evening for a ‘hot toddy’.)

  3. Bachbone says:

I’ll swap you around 10 inches of packable snow for a little of your ice. Deal?

  4. Melissa in Texas says:

    LOL Bach!
I live in Texas for a reason! We had ice here about two weeks ago and there were 850 accidents. Darn rednecks don’t know what to do on ice! (Myself included!):d
They are talking about more this coming week.Time to stock up on groceries! This gal is going to hunker down and light a fire!

  5. I’ll take it, Bach! I’ll take packed snow over packed ice anyday :d

  6. scmommy – how is the weather in SC?

  7. scmommy says:

It rained all day, temp was around 55 degrees. As of now (8:20pm), the sky is clear and it’s almost hot – 65 degrees. Suppose to be in the upper 50’s, low 60’s thru the weekend. It doesn’t start getting real cold till mid January and only last about 3 weeks. Of course, I hate it if it gets below 60.

Wow grass, that is awesome. :) Hey PCD did it snow much up there. I was talking to my brother who lives in Waukon Junction, IA and he said he got alot of snow. How did Dubque do? We down here in the Quad Cities didn’t get much at all. – Lorica

Charlotte NC? I lived at Ft. Bragg, NC until last year. The moisture makes the cold miserable. We’re in Colubmia, SC now, the basic training post. It’s cold here!

  10. PCD says:

    Lorica,

Really not that much. I think we’ve had abut 6″ since Saturday.

The drivers in Dubuque aren’t any better than the Texas drivers. I got hit Saturday and Allstate is dancing around trying to figure out how not to pay to fix my car that their insured hit.

  11. Amy – yep … hopefully it’ll warm up a bit in the coming days.

PCD – what happened with the accident? Are you ok?

  12. PCD says:

Sister, Physically I’m ok, but Allstate is dragging their feet fixing up my baby. At first, they wanted me to drive my car down to Moline (No, not to visit Lorica) to get evaluated.

I got one estimate on my own. I’m going to get a few more after work, but a new door for my car is $1400! I’ll settle for a rust free used door painted to match my car.

They also owe me a refund on a battery.

  13. Lorica says:

Well PCD I am glad you are ok. I cannot in anyway believe that Allstate would make you drive 75 miles to have your car looked at. What happened to the Good Hands people??
It would of been cool to meet tho. Perhaps another day. There is a very nice coffee shop here called Fireworks. I will post the webpage later. Sorry to hear about the accident PCD. It will get better, just start talking about lawyers, if you have to. – Lorica

  14. PCD says:

Lorica, I’m waiting for the “technician” to show up here. If they don’t, I’m telling Allstate that I’m going to not only charge for damages but my time, and I’ll break down my Systems Programmer (on a major mainframe) salary to an hourly rate and let them know how many hours I’ve missed and am claiming compensation for.

Then there always going to Iowa’s business hating Attorney General, Tom Miller. He loves to sue big companies all the time. Need I say he’s a failed Liberal Democrat who was unelected from the Iowa legislature?

  15. Severian says:

its only freezing and icing as God’s punishment for you evil neocons and warmongers in those evil southern red states. peace.

I live in the Mojave Desert near Edwards Air Force Base. During the day yesterday it was about 59 F. Last night the low was 8 F. Fortunately, there’s very low humidity up here in the high desert so any ice melts by about 7 AM (so far).
