If you use Firefox, you should check out the 'performancing' extension. It's a very cool editor designed for wordpress (well, designed for others too, but has a specific wordpress config). It's much harder to lose your post if you use it.

I see that you do use WordPress: my advice is to use that “Save and Continue Editing” button a lot!
