I feel there is no need to address his calling our President a terrorist, as any level headed person can see the falseness of that statement. Instead, I would like to talk about Mr. Belafonte's claim that millions of American's support a Socialist who admittedly admires Fidel Castro. Anyone who would pattern themselves after a Communist dictator would not garner support from too many Americans I know. Also, Mr. Chavez made many high profile visits to Saddam Hussein prior to the war. So let me get this straight Mr. Belafonte, you're saying that millions of Americans support a man who is friends with two of the world's greatest violators of Civil Rights? I beg to differ. Hugo Chavez is a mere thug who tried on more than one occassion to seize power through military coup, rather than free election. Rather than solve his people's problems internally, he deflects their suffering from his responsibility by blaming the United Sates and other democracies. He also accused the U.S. of "fighting terror with terror" for invading Afghanistan. Although some left-leaning Americans have issues with Operation Iraqi Freedom, I think that all Americans, besides the far-left fringes of American society, such as MoveOn.org and Mr. Belafonte, would agree that our action against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan was justified.
