If you’ve been familiar with weaponry all your life, why would the common sense regarding “safety” not be as natural as breathing. We Americans are too quick to go on about safety issues. The stretch you make in that same paragraph is one hell of a stretch and a non-starter.

As far as giving ammo to the knot heads for taking away gun rights, this is a drop in the middle of a rain storm. They don’t like rain period.

But your last two statements have wandered too far left into the brush. Media frothin’ about their big non-starter story lacking in facts and relying on speculations is why they should be referred to as opinionists, not reporters. Meanwhile actual major stories like the UAE are ignored, in their zeal to bag the VP, instead of doing their day job. The focus as you say, ought to be on the facts not the white house. When they aren’t, you wander deeper into the sticks.

Neither one of us know any of the people involved in the accident. We do know their is no depth that people in the press won’t stoop to, in order to dissuade from truths and for disillusion to become the missing facts.

Cheney had it right. Ultimately, he pulled the trigger and ultimately it was his responsibility for shooting Whittington. To try to lay the blame on Whittington was disgusting.

The entire cadre of hunters should have taken a hunting safety course instead of getting an age deferment. Thinking that “you’re too experienced” to need a refresher course is the very mindset that caused this to happen. If the statements of Cheney’s pals are to be believed, they shoot each other on a regular basis!

Drinking alcohol before a hunt will get you banned in any sane hunting group. Cheney was not impaired. The alcohol didn’t cause the problem. But he still shouldn’t have done it.

Cheney and friends meanaced our gun rights with this stunt. It gave ammo to the freaks that want to take away our guns.

This is the sort of judgement we have running the country?

The question shouldn’t be about the media. The focus should be the White House.

I thought he was shooting for game birds. This was totally an accident.

Publically it could have been handled a little better. But even if it was handled perfectly it would not have looked that different to the public.

It’s an awful thing to shoot another hunter. A hunters worse nightmare. I feel for everyone who was there because this experience has undoubtably has changed all of their lives forever. I just hope the guy recovers fully. Not a huge Cheney fan here. But as a fellow hunter I must stand behind him and support him on this one. I pray that he can clear his conscience and get back to his the duties of his office.
