President George WashingtonJohn Hawkins at Right Wing News says yes. Check out his post on Washington and let me know what you think. Do you agree? If not, who’d be tops on your list of greatest Americans?

Here’s some background on President’s Day/Washington’s Day (his birthday is the 22nd).

Refresher: Here’s his bio on the WH website. More on GW here.

    Reagan!!!!

Reagan’s got to come second. Reagan changed a country. Washington made one. Washington accepting no more honorable title than “Mr. President” and quitting after two terms were thow of the most important things he could have done. They don’t sound like much, but that precedence guaranteed our democracy would continue.

I have been reading a book on our founding fathers and it would be hard to settle on just one person. Here are some other names that have not been mentioned.

    Benjamin Franklin
    Thomas Jefferson
    Samuel Adams
    Patrick Henry

Not to take away from George Washington but with out the above mentioned and others in their contributions and sacrifice’s to the beginnings of our country I don’t think America would be as great as she is. We are a Constitutional Republic of Laws and I would challenge any one to find the word “Democracy” in the Constitution or The Bill of Rights.
