Speaking of Schools and Classic cars....

- Just Back from taking my learning unit to his high school to enjoy the school theater group doing "Grease". Gotta love it. Even had the local classic car club set up a bevy of American muscle car beauties in front of the auditorium. Had a Chevy SS Nova, with a 429, very very similar to my Chevy II.

Yowsa... "Greased Lightnin'" .... heh

I loved how the drivers console wrapped around the driver. It was like being a pilot in an airplane. You had 40 acres of hood space, and every gauge that you could want. "T" shifter handle on the floor, and bucket seats. It would of sucked making out in the front seats, but that is why there are back seats. =)) 400 Pontiac with Ram Air meant all the power a boy could want. /sigh This woman sold this car for 1500.00 in 1980, it was only 11 years old. - Lorica

My first wife and I had a 69 Grand Prix. Weren't those doors looooong. We went Arizona with her Grandma (the snow bird delivery special). I was in the back seat on the passenger side, when we stopped to trade driving duties at a rest stop. As I grabbed the part (I wanna say post) where the door latches, from the top as the windows were all down. Grandma was riding shotgun and slammed the door after she exited. The door caught all four of my fingers into a nice tight wad. She couldn't open the door because it didn't latch all the way, so I had to pull the door more into the closed position in order to release the latch. It was tough playing the piano for a while but no broken bones. :((

I love American Muscle cars. I had a neighbor lady who had a 69 Grand Prix that was in awesome shape. I use to drool over that car. Just 4 months before I got my license she sold the thing. It broke my heart. - Lorica

Bang, That's gotta be a proud moment to be sure for your albeit short-lived record. I had a 67 Pontiac Lemans that got me into waaay too much trouble during my first year of college. Young, dumb and full of um, energy as it were. It was simply not possible to go slow!

Jim M, I just got back from a lunch date. I'm not back in the military. I'm here of my own accord. Another long story for another day and place perhaps.

- Typo ... managed to break 12 seconds. Those kind of nights when everything comes together with tires, temperature, track service, and engine performance. I also picked up a few tips from visiting factory teams, such as packing the intake manifold with ice between runs to increase the fuel/air density.

- The Factory experimental class was the fore-runner in basic stock form to what would later become the funny cars....

- And by the way guys....since you brought up the subject earlier, long long ago in a Galaxy called Ohio, yours truly built and owned a Chevy II A/FX factory experimental I ran at the Stowe drag-a-way, and a few other tracks around Northern Ohio. Its specs were:

Body and mods - Standard Chevy II body with modified suspension, drag bars and a redone front end, heavy duty everything including front towers and risers, sport hydraulics.

- Engine - Chevy 429 porcupine, bored, ported and releaved to 476 cu in. , dual quad harleys, electronic ignition, modified heads, roller bearing cam, and solid lifters.

Other goodies: 4 speed with hurst speed shifter on the floor, 4.56 rear end for ET, 3.86 for top end.

Performance: 0 to 60 in 4.3 secs - 1/4 mile - 12.21 - 124 mph ( when I could get the power on the track through the 15 inch M&H slicks.....

I did manage to break 11 secs twice. Of course the real fun was eating up street rods and all comers, particularly 57 Chevys that never knew what hit em' at the local hamburger haunt. Heh.

Held the NHRA A/FX record for a short time until the factory teams started getting involved. Ahhhh those were the days....Cars name: "Two for a Quarter"

- I didn't see the picture but from the reviews and trailers I had a few questions...

- Do chaps come in latex....

- What do the sheep do while the boys are "gathering wool", stand around and go ewewewewewe

- Is it true the horn is on the back of a gay cowboys saddle....

- So many questions, so little interest...

- I have others as you might imagine, but its been months since ST had to moderate my posts, so they'll have to go on posted... *chuckle*
