Sister Toldjah!

Well how about that?

In its substance, the video reveals nothing that was not already known from previously released transcripts and government investigations. But in politics, images carry a power far beyond written words, and the video, played again and again on cable television, instantly provided new fuel for an emotional debate.

More like ‘media-driven new fuel’ for those who want to demagogue the issue in an election year.

Thanks for nothing, MSM.

  1. [...] Patrick Frey, the Los Angeles blogger who runs Patterico’s Pontifications, has been all over the non-story of the video which purports to show President Bush in a bad light over how much warning he received about the possible damage from Hurricane Katrina, here, here, here and here. Mr. Frey’s primary concern has been the reporting of The Los Angeles Times on this story. Sister Toldjah thanked those who want to demagogue the issue (those people would be the Democratic leaders). 2. Katrina Overhaul

Where should you turn when you want to know what’s happening in the world around you? Or what was the cause of a disaster? Should you watch a movie made by some biased clown who wants to re-write history? Should you turn to the network news? ……

  3. [...] The usual gang of righty haters over at Horsesass Ass have been crowing away ever since the Abramoff scandals, about how this would be the year the "fascist right wing" would be shown the door in Washington DC and around the country.  All the problems Bush and the Republicans have weathered have certainly made them vulnerable, even if a lot of the controversy is more imagined then real.  But the liberal congratulations are premature, since apparently the Democrats are having trouble getting behind a positive unified agenda. 3. It will never happen.

They will passthe blame to someone else, or it was a glitch, or if they do, it will be buried in the obituary section.

We have allowed for personal responsibility to be removed from our culture. It is never your fault, it is someone elses. Don’t take responsibility if you can shift the blame.

Former CNN anchor Aaron Brown has it in a nutshell:

“The news in this country is a business,” he said. “You might not like to think of it that way, but it is.”

  8. Pam nailed one thing: the Democrats have had a succession of kerfuffles that they saw as issues, which turned out to be nothing.

I use WordPress (as does our wonderful hostess) as my blog software, and WordPress allows me to post-date entries. I’ve got one due to pop up on April 25th, to remind people about how the left was attacking President Bush on the Dubai Ports World issue, which I’m guessing will be a nothing. I’ve got one due to pop up in mid-May, asking people where the Cheney hunting accident story went; it’ll have been forgotten. And, I’ve got one due to pop up in December, with the predictions for 2006 posted on The Liberal Avenger; where we had predictions that Sam Alito’s nomination would be defeated and that there would be a rally of 100,000 people demanding impeachment by year’s end.

Oh, puh-leeze! Your credibility in the news is only as good as your ability not to get caught telling a lie.

  11. Thanks for the admission, steve!=d>

But, wait a minute! Does the constant MSM campaigning for Democrats violate the McCain-Feingold campaign finance laws? Or is the MSM above the law? Why is Tom Delay being tried in court and not the MSM bigwigs?

  12. Time for prosecution for breaking the law (as liberals like to accuse all the time) Mwalimu

    Comment by Baklava @ 3/6/2006 - 9:53 am

  13. Breaking what law? All weekend FOX News pushed the “we should invade Iran” propaganda routine. They were the only ones using this fearmonger tactic, so were they breaking a law? Or was it just another excercise in warmongering that they know so well? Peace

  14. Fox news or the opinions of the commentators?

    There is a difference.

O’Rielly is not Fox News, same with Hannity and Combs. They are commentators and not the news anchors or reporters.

Same as Olberman, he is not the news, he is a commentator.

    Next….

  15. McCain Feingold campaign finance law. Or… they should clearly call themselves commenters instead of reporters. That’d cover it.
