I don't think Edwards is the man S.T. A more conservative Dem like Warner from Virginia is the only hope the Dems have. Leftists like Stevepeace are the death of their party. Here's why:

Lots of Republicans were Dems a few years ago (like you S.T., and me) There once were conservative Dems, but Reagan galvanized both parties and conservatives became pretty staunch Repubs. A lot of folks switched in the 80's and 90's. A conservative Dem against a liberal Repub (Warner vs. McCain) would make me stop and review both candidates carefully before voting. A liberal like Kucinich or "Winter soldier" Kerry against almost every Rep is a no brainer for conservatives.
Stevepeace is the death of the Dems. His own party voted with Repubs 460-2 to keep the troops in Iraq after Murtha's disastrous debacle. Staunch Dems here in West Virginia will only vote for a (pro-life) Dem who strongly supports the military. Sorry Stevepeace, that includes the war they are currently fighting.

No Democrat that voted to go to war in Iraq, will become the president in 2008. That leaves Fiengold and Kucinich. Peace

The Democrats did nominate Adlai Stevenson again in 1956, only four years after he'd lost to Eisenhower, but I think the milieu has changed quite a bit since then. As for Richard Nixon, he let eight years pass before putting himself forward again -- and he might not have beaten a candidate stronger than the incredibly weak Hubert Humphrey.

- Incidently, I don't think Elmer Fudwards will be able to shed the sight of his "sort of anti-gay" comments to Cheney, during the debates. Little things like that always come back to haunt you. He looked like such a small minded bigot when he did that in front of the entire viewing nation.

- My own take is, depending on the Congressional voting outcome, the Dems are going to move back toward moderation, which means I expect them to jetison anyone and everyone that were involved in the last mess, which opens the door for someone with real leadership qualities like Bill Richardson. The question is if he really would want it.

- Hillery keeps making mistakes, pandering to focus groups to garner votes, but losing as much support as she gains evrytime she speaks out. She'll lose even more support as she tries to swing hard center to appeal to moderates, and more Liberal Republicans. I agree shes just got too much baggage.

- Dean is failing so miserably in raising funds, I think they may replace him. Theres still three years to go so a lot will probably change. The Republicans are already rumored to have over 100 million in the kitty, and they havn't even started a serious fund raising drive.

Oh Oh Can I start...*Grins Evilly*

Pictures are worth a thousand words. so lets see some pictures:

Which man do terrorists fear?

Pitch from the mound!

How to catch and how NOT to catch a football!

"Shockingly enough, one of Kerry's highest grades (and yet still not all that good) was in... French."

link

"When Kerry threw the first pitch at a Red Sox-Yankees game, he did not throw from the pitcher's mound – yet still bounced the ball before it reached home plate. He then blamed his namby-pamby throw on the catcher, a National Guard soldier and Iraq war veteran: 'I held back,' Kerry told reporters. 'He was very nervous. I tried to lob it gently.' Conclusion: John Kerry throws a baseball worse than a girl."

His elitist attempt to blame a Secret Service agent for a fall while skiing.

One we'll add: Kerry's snotty jab at President Bush's bicycle accident, even though the senator himself also fell off his bike.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. so lets see some pictures:

Which man do terrorists fear?

Pitch from the mound!

How to catch and how NOT to catch a football!

“Shockingly enough, one of Kerry’s highest grades (and yet still not all that good) was in… French.”

link

“When Kerry threw the first pitch at a Red Sox-Yankees game, he did not throw from the pitcher’s mound – yet still bounced the ball before it reached home plate. He then blamed his namby-pamby throw on the catcher, a National Guard soldier and Iraq war veteran: ‘I held back,’ Kerry told reporters. ‘He was very nervous. I tried to lob it gently.’ Conclusion: John Kerry throws a baseball worse than a girl.”

His elitist attempt to blame a Secret Service agent for a fall while skiing.

One we’ll add: Kerry’s snotty jab at President Bush’s bicycle accident, even though the senator himself also fell off his bike.
