Here’s a modest proposal for improving national political discussion: Stop equating our opponents with famous dictators, their chief executioners, police apparatus or ideologies.

Baklava, war is hel1, and sometimes people get frustrated and debate stops. Violence is always counter-productive. “bush is a warmonger”, means bush enjoys and likes war. That is how the Left sees bush. The Right see’s bush in a different way, so “bush is a warmonger”, is said to p1ss off the Right. It’s like when bush says,”bring it on”, that doesn’t mean a thing, but it p1sses off the Left, so bush says it. The debate is on a whole different level at this point. It is about the question, “Is war a valid tool of diplomacy or is it counter-productive and useless?” It just so happens that bush, got himself caught in a giant debate he has no control over, so he looks more and more silly trying to control it. No. My point is that you name call. It’d be worth debating if you talked about ideas and/or solutions. You name call and do NOT engage in debate.

There are a few here who do toss ideas around. Even Tommy just talked about a DMZ. I engaged on the DMZ idea. I didn’t realize he wasn’t talking about a complete shutdown of the border but he clarified himself. That’s what debating brings… a better understanding of ideas. Nobody can understand it if it’s just said Bush is a warmongerer. It doesn’t further the debate. It only illuminates who you are.

Unfortunate that you see it that way. The enemy is not conservatives. There are definate enemies in this world and you fail to recognize who they are.

The point is Steve… Should we respond in kind and name call or try to debate ideas? I’ve tried with you but you failed to address any question I’ve asked. This failure is now explained. You don’t feel it necessary to respond to someone you hate.
