How the media undermines US national security

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on April 9, 2006 at 7:35 pm

part MMMMMMVIIIII:

The Bush administration is planning to use nuclear weapons against Iran, to prevent it acquiring its own atomic warheads, claims an investigative writer with high-level Pentagon and intelligence contacts.

President George W Bush is said to be so alarmed by the threat of Iran’s hard-line leader, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, that privately he refers to him as “the new Hitler”, says Seymour Hersh, who broke the story of the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.

Some US military chiefs have unsuccessfully urged the White House to drop the nuclear option from its war plans, Hersh writes in The New Yorker magazine. The conviction that Mr Ahmedinejad would attack Israel or US forces in the Middle East, if Iran obtains atomic weapons, is what drives American planning for the destruction of Teheran’s nuclear programme.

Hersh claims that one of the plans, presented to the White House by the Pentagon, entails the use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the B61-11, against underground nuclear sites. One alleged target is Iran’s main centrifuge plant, at Natanz, 200 miles south of Teheran.

Unreal.

But hey, we can file this under the “public’s right to know” – right?

This crap is getting out of control:

Web site exposes Air Force One defenses

Whenever the president travels, security is a prime consideration. Motorcade routes are kept secret, and premature release of information about a presidential trip aboard one of the twin Air Force One planes can result in the Secret Service canceling a visit.

Thus, the Air Force reacted with alarm last week after The Chronicle told the Secret Service that a government document containing specific information about the anti-missile defenses on Air Force One and detailed interior maps of the two planes — including the location of Secret Service agents within the planes — was posted on the Web site of an Air Force base.

    Read the rest HERE

What is it with leaks these days?!?!

You don’t just ‘happen’ to have exact details of all the systems of Air Force One, it’s Counter-measures and placement of Secret Service and how a sniper can take it down.

    This is from the inside.

Of course, if you expose Joe Wilson’s lies or show that Saddam did indeed have illegal WMD programs and connections to al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, you get impeached.

THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT MAN WAS NOT MEANT TO KNOW! the Far Left intones.

    Like the truth.

  3. Mwalimu Daudi says:

Fishermen don’t lie (so the saying goes), and neither does Seymour Hersh. They just “remember big”.

Here are some of Hersh’s biggest memories.

Sister, if it makes you feel any better, I am reading Ultimate Sacrifice by Lamar Waldon and the book references the fact that the AP was giving out JFK’s invasion plans back in May of 1963:-w

Is a President, on the eve of his reelection campaign, legally entitled to ward off political embarrassment and conceal past failures in t?e exercise of his office by unilaterally and informally declassifying selected – as well as false and misleading – portions of a classified National Intelligence Estimate that he has previously refused to declassify, in order to cause such information to be secretly disclosed under false pretenses in the name of a “former Hill staffer” to a single reporter, intending that reporter to publish such false and misleading information in a prominent national newspaper?

The answer is obvious: No. Such a misuse of authority is the very essence of a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States. It is also precisely the abuse of executive power that led to the impeachment of Richard M. Nixon

  7. sanity says:

    Buy a clue.

The President is the ultimate authority on what is classified, what gets classified, what stays classified and yes, he has the authority to unclassify whatever he feels no longer needs to be classified.

I guess you can classify this as a unclassification.

NIE was unclassified, As president he has that ability and right.

He cannot leak anything since he is the one who makes the decision on classifications.

The courts and judge already said Plame’s name was not mentioned in the NIE.

Jeezus, how many times do sane people have to hit you guys in the head before some sense gets knocked into you?

But never mind that, Joe Wilson, aww, he is just some sweet guy who the President went after..*cough* *cough*…almost spilled my coffee on that one.

Check Joe Wilson post for his sweet cuddly comments.

By the way, have the Democrats gotten a plan yet?
It’s been 6 years, they should be bale ot cut and paste one by now I would think. Dean did promise we would know the Democrat amazing plan by the beginning of 2006.

    Still waiting….

Here is some free advice, replace that idiot Dean with Bill Clinton, and you might begin to see some improvement on your campaign finances and fund-raisers.

  8. Baklava says:

No. No plan for the Democrats Sanity. Unless you call the plan undermining this country and president.

  9. G Monster says:

Lieberman was one voice of reason from the democratic party and now Howard Dean’s brother is running against him.
