My husband and I went to see United 93 today.
We wanted to go during the opening weekend to support the families, but we were traveling between Austin and Dallas. My stepson has been seriously ill and in the hospital in Dallas.
Our 14 year old son went with us. We were not sure how he would react, as it is an issue that seems to be glossed over in the schools.
He sat and gnawed his nails through the entire movie.
Sitting in that theater was an extremely powerful experience. I used to be a big horror film buff, yet I have NEVER had an adrenaline rush like this one, during a movie.
The thing that was almost surreal, is that everyone knows how the story ends, yet it was almost like the audience had hopes for a different ending.
When they showed certain scenes, you could hear people start to sniffle and squirm. At one point, my husband and I both had tears rolling down our cheeks. (He is definitely NOT one to cry!)
Several times during the movie, you could hear the audience take a collective deep breath and hold it, blowing it out, again, collectively. When the movie was over, the silence was almost deafening. I was grateful to see that I was not the only one wiping away tears as we left the theater. Thankfully, there was no one bad mouthing the movie or the USA, as I believe that the three of us might have just taken them down!
The schools should show this movie or take their classes to see it. As a matter of fact, we spoke of making an offer to pay for my son's "Social Studies" class to go see this movie. We are contacting the school on Monday to make the offer. I am pretty sure that it will be refused, but I am going to try.
I think the kids NEED to see this movie.
Heck, I think everyone should see it!
I am taking my daughter who is 22 and was working today, to see it tomorrow. She has been wanting to go and feels much the way we do.

God Bless the USA!

NEVER FORGET

The short review? A must see. Period. To me, this movie represents several things. First, it's LONG overdue. The cries of "too soon" shouted at movie screen previews several weeks ago are ridiculous. If anything, it's almost "too late". Our...
