What Do They Mean?

More to the point, even though the polling is so bad for the President, it doesn't mean that people will automatically flock to the alternative. The alternatives simply aren't there.

- An interesting aspect to the whole "gang of 14"/Confirmation derby" came out of manueverings concerning the upcoming Terrence Boyle, and General Hayden hearings.

- As joined at the hip as PEW and the DNC is, and rabidly wedded to polls as the left is, I just have to believe that Congressional DummyCrabs have thier aides pouring over Conservative blogs every day to get a feel for ideas.

- You see someone post about Rove gleefully wringing his hands anticipating another round of Schumer/Kennedy/Pelosi/Reid stepping in the "soft on terror" doodoo pile with the Hayden hearings and the next day Schumer is all subdued tones, and conciliatory reasonableness, stating he doesn't care about Haydens Military background and will support him if he can be assured Hayden with keep "independence" within the agency.

- We'll see if they can bridal their enthusiasm when they're in front of the camera's with lots of TV face time. Partisan fervor generally gets the better of common sense, but stranger things have happened.

- Aside from that, it would appear that one of the Republican push-back plan items is to put up to 20 other nominees forth for various gov. slots, one spokesman saying the administration hopes these series of hearing's will last right through the fall Comgressional elections. Obviously they want to give the Dembulbs maximum rope to hang themselves in front of the voting public.

Arlen Specter, it is nice to finally have a republican that I can dislike. I was starting to think I was a republican, as all the politicians I didn't like were democrats.

FYI: I am an independent. Therefore I can formulate my own opinions on any subject I see fit. I do believe voting republican is typically the way to go.

I won't be surprised if the Republicans screw things up so badly that the Dhimmicrats regain control of the White House in 2008, or even one house of Congress this year.

I won't worry too much, either. The Dems will, as they keep doing, mistake frustration with Republican inaction and surrender to the Left, as some sort of blanket acceptance of Dem plans - which they never articulate, thus we never know what the plan says - which it won't be. And in a few years the Dumbs will be tossed again as the electorate find new faces in the Republican party, as yet unbent to the demands of the 'moderate', do-nothing Repubs in office.

Arlen Specter remains the poster boy for Republican Surrender Monkeys. I'd rather he lose to a conservative Dem, than be re-elected again! I grew up in SE Pennsylvania. He was crud then, and he's never improved.

Let the Republicans lose, They haven't earned the right to be re-elected!

And don't worry! The Dumbs will miscast the election as a vote of confidence in them.

We'll survive it.

Andrew,

They do re-weight... but often in the other direction. I remember a poll last year that started out weighed toward Dems by 7 points... and it was re-weighed to have MORE Dems, giving them an 11-point edge!

So somehow, despite the GOP having the most elected national offices in my lifetime, we still supposedly have 10-15% more Dems according to these "objective" pollsters.

- A sure sign your side is in trouble is when you have to turn to "polls". Maybe at some point, when the Democrats finally win some election or other, they'll be able to say; "See.... we knew it would work eventually."

Most pollsters, including I'm sure the ones CBS/NYT use, correct the actual sample with national weightings. The odds of getting the exact national breakdown of political affiliation and age grouping in the sample is very small, but the correction by weighting the sample is easy and standard practice.
