I remember when the lefties were screaming “We can’t even find Saddam!!”, then we find Saddam and their reply is “Big deal”. Then they scream “We can’t even find Zarqawi!!”, then we find him and they scream “Big deal!!”.

Does anyone think the reaction will be any different when we find Osama?

When you combine this Zarqawi-was-a-made-by-Bush-golem BS with the prior streams of we’re-losing-because-we-haven’t-gotten-bin-Laden BS, what do you get?

Obviously, that the only real threats are the ones the United States cannot neutralize. If we succeed in taking out X, then clearly, X couldn’t have been significant.

A more direct or striking quote from the gospel of leftist defeatism would be hard to compose.

“Al Qaeda wasn’t in Iraq until Bush blew it up.”

This has to be the most common misconception among the denizens of the self-called “reality-based community,” but it’s not exacty the truth. If they are willing to accept that Zarqawi was indeed an Al Qaida operative long before the war, which is accurate based upon his running an Al Qaida camp in Afghanistan, then that statement is purely false. Zarqawi was the leader of the Army of Ansar al-Sunnah before splitting off and creating Tawhid wal Jihad which was to be composed of non-Iraqis. Both appointments as leaders happened before the Coalition hit the ground.

With the obvious truths in mind, many on the Left continue to trot out this inane arguments that don’t have any merit at all and still repeat these same old myths and errors.
