University of Colorado committee: Ward Churchill has got to go

He’s claiming it’s all political, of course. Via the AP:

Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims “little Eichmanns,” should be fired because of “repeated and deliberate” infractions of scholarship rules, a University of Colorado committee said today.

The recommendation, which came on a 6-3 vote, now goes to university officials for a final decision.

Churchill, a tenured professor of ethnic studies who has vowed to fight his dismissal with a lawsuit, “has committed serious, repeated, and deliberate research misconduct,” the school’s Standing Committee on Research Misconduct said in its final report.

But in what appeared to be an acknowledgment of the political pressure placed on the university to fire Churchill, the report asked school officials to reassure other faculty members that CU still values academic freedom.

There’s still some good news for the America-hating Churchill to cling to: he DID make it onto Little Green Football’s list of nominees for Idiotarian of the year last year, afterall ;)

McQ writes:

One hopes (and I assume this to be the case given the name of the recommending committee) the recommendation is being made because of numerous examples of his academic misconduct and not the execrable remarks he made. However much they disgust me, he still has every right to make them without penalty.

Agreed.

Here’s the PDF of the committee’s final report. (Hat tip: AllahPundit)
