University management doesn't have to follow committee advice. If WC is fired, he will sue, and he will likely be compensated by the university, with tax dollars, to go away. The test of whether the "blow-back" of WC's actions bite him in the rear end will be his fate after the payoff. I'll bet he'll quickly be hired by another university.
