Weekend open thread (Check the comments for Canes game commentary)
Sorry I’m a bit late in posting the open thread today.
Don’t forget that the Hurricanes play the Oilers in Edmonton tonight in game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals (NBC – 8pm ET). The ‘Canes have to win one game to win the Cup. Edmonton would have to win both. I hope the ‘Canes wrap it up tonight as I don’t think I’ll be able to sit through game 7. This stuff stresses me out!

In their defense, Edmonton has been very, very good at getting in the shooting lanes. Finally Stillman just let one go, HARD, right into Ethan Moreau’s midsection. That’s what they gotta do – make them pay for blocking shots.
Brind’Amour has been subpar tonight. He’s had the puck in good shooting spots tonight but has decided to hold on to it too long.
Benning: that is one of my pet peeves. You can’t score if you don’t pull the trigger. Shoot the puck! If they fall to block it, launch it into them hard. Make them think twice the next time. When you have the advantage, you should pepper that goalie. Get a scrum in front of that goal. You’ll get one eventually.
It’s almost like they WANT a game 7 … brb. Drink and powder room break time.
Since the timeout Carolina has been carrying the play. They need to continue and get that one bounce, a nice garbage goal.. then it will be a fight to the finish.
Expect hardly any penalties to be called in the third.

When I was 12, playing pee wee hockey, we were up 7-0 after 2 periods and our coach kicked a garbage can in between the 2nd and 3rd periods.
