- Essentially that statement, when married to an “elitist”, self-appointed belief of righteousness for the sake of “the cause”, is without a doubt, the unspoken mantra of the “Progressive left”.

- I don’t really believe its as much about Liberal politics with some in the media,(remember a number of the newspaper owners are themselves very Conservative in their politics), as much as it is about the bottom line. That is, in this case, all about selling papers. Controversy sells, and stability, slow news days, are the kiss of death for enterprises that depend on raw circulation for survival. A pure case of economics over love of country.

- I also think that the entire gaggle of the anti-Bush/anti-American Republic group believes that they can do these seditious unpatriotic things safely, PRECISELY because the Bush doctrines and WOT has been so hugely successful. They are simply power starved, and believe anything is on the table now in the war for the American political stage.

- The thing that seems to escape them is the backlash of mainstream America. All these actions against the safety, and wishes, of the majority of the electorate will come home to roost, once again, on election day. Socialism, in all its guise’s, is anathema to the fundamental idea of “Rugged American individualism”, something the Left hates with a passion because it demands responsibility of the individual and each persons “acts”, but the one aspect of America the Progressives continue to ignore at their own political peril.
