For a moment, there, I thought our space program was engaging in a little intergallactic drug smuggling.
Anyone else think it’s time NASA came up with a new product? The Space Shuttle doesn’t exactly fill me with pride anymore.
The Space Shuttle, while exciting, is old – very old – technology. When the X-15 was being flown that was the next step forward. Not the Saturn 5 or the Apollo missions.
A space plane – one that could take off from a landing strip, reach orbit, and return to the earth, is still not within our capablilities. And that was the whole point of the X-15 et al.
So let’s get through the Space Shuttle and move on to the future!
NASA has been working on a new space shuttle for the last 6 years that I am aware of. Personally I would love to see them get rid of the whole booster rocket system. There has to be some way better to leave the earth’s gravitational pull. – Lorica
I’m predicting it will launch on time. I just question the timing though.
