Katyusha rockets hit Nahariya and Tiberias

The damage resulting from Ariel Sharon's retreat and negligence continues. Now, with the Hezbollah attacking Israeli targets anew, they've also struck Tiberias and the lower Galilee, and two people were murdered as a result.

It's conservatively estimated that Israel has about 200 nuclear weapons. Israel, typical of a mature state that's not run by a tinpot petty dictator, says nothing about their nuclear capability, no bragging or threats, but it's still a nuclear power. Iran is messing with fire, Israel may not be able to put a B52 carpet bombing style smack down on Iran, but they are more than capable of turning most of Iran into a glass parking lot. Which is why Iran operates through proxies like Hezbollah against Israel. It's time for the Israeli's to realize that they can fight a war with Iran either now, or after Iran goes nuclear. Von Clauswitz said "You can never avoid a war, you can only postpone it to your enemie's advantage." This situation will only get worse if it's not solved now, public and world opinion be damned.

Was listening to hughe hewitt on the way in, and had a counter terrorism person on that had some interesting reports.

The attack on the Israeli ship is thought to a be a UAV, very high tech, more than what Hizbollah can come up with.

Israeli forces are reporting seeing Iranian troops in Lebanon, last report is 100.

They are saying that the Iranians are initiating this, and actively funding and equiping Hizbollah with weapons that they would never have.

The leader of Hizbollah does sneeze without Iranian govenrment approval, and this is believed to be initiated by Iran to divert attantion away from what it is doing on its nuclear abitions.

It is pre-meditated.

Just before Iran was to go before the UN, Hezbollah invades and kills and kidnaps Israeli soldiers, setting Israel off.

Shortly there after, hundreds of rockets hit towns in Israel.

And a high tech weapon, UAV, hits a top of the line (commissioned within the last 10 years) Israeli warship (I think it had 60 + members on board).

The second shot hits and either damages or sinks a Egyptian boat. (I am sure Egypt is loving Hezbollah right now for that.)

This will get worse.

Israel is not done yet, and Iran and Syria are compounding the problem.

The currect military for Israel would have a hard time hitting Iran from where they are at the moment, but if they have ballistic missles aboard submarines, (which it is believed they do), they could strategically hit Iran. Other than that there is not much they can do to Iran but wipe out Hezbollah.

Syria on the other hand is definately within striking distance.

And after Iran has stated on many occassions of wiping Israel off the face of the map, and other threats, one has to wonder if Iran has the ability to go nuclear, or soon will, if they plan to use nuclear weapons in the face of this escalating conflict.

Whether the US helps on not with this, we are going to be blamed as being partial and backing Israel, no matter the rhetoric that is being used in the UN and around the other world leaders.

Unfortunately, even if we sit back and do nothing the US will be blamed for what is going on, so if we are going to be blamed one way or another, perhaps we better do something. What that is I don't know.

Israel may not be able to hit Iran very well, but with US troops, warships and planes right on Irans border, we could do very serious damage to them, if not take out their nuclear capability.

This may seem harsh, but we need to stop acting like we live in a vaccum. This is not going to get better until it gets much worse. How much more, I don't know, but we better stop diluting ourselves.

Israel will not negotiate with terrorists, especially if it shows weakness on their part, and it will only let the terrorists know they can do this again and get Israel to capitulate. Give in once, and they will see it works and keep doing it.

I read somewhere that Terrorists and Islamists do not respect weakness, only strength.

What will the US and the rest fothe world leaders show from this point on? Weakness or strength?

The cautionary statements issued by Rice, I believe, are for a legitimate reason: minimize civilian casualties as much as possible, but defense is your right.
One needs only to step back and look at the entire picture on both sides. Israel's reward for "giving" has been attacks by terrorists. Palestinians have voted to allow terrorists to be thier "voice". While critics of the US administration accuse them of being disengaged from the Israeli/Palestinian peace process, we have to ask one simple question: when do we stop negotiating with terrorists? Israel must be asking themselves at this moment. They have violated their own lon-standing policy by releasing terrorists in exchange for hostages-something that they vowed not to do decades ago. They have given in to the world in a sincere attempt to broker peace with their enemies. Vacated settlements, arrested their own people who refused to move out of Gaza. There will be feelings of remorse in the coming days...regret. Israel's primary regret should be that they tried to appease an enemy that wants only their complete destruction; a lesson they learned years ago, yet ignored.

It is time. Isreal has put up with so much. They have given so much. If the Palestinians would of just not elected Hamas this situation might not have ever developed, but when the deceived are running things, it will always turn out bad. Right Steve??? It is just tragic that these guys elected a group of terrorists to lead them. Sorta tells ya where their logic lies. It is late, God Save the Innocent among them, and let the terrorist feel your wrath. - Lorica
