Bak,

Let's not get techy here. I'll start telling you about the computer I built called "Little Frankenstein". It started as a 386-44, then progressed through a 486-100mhz to a 100Mhz Pentium.

NC, I'm surprised they didn't trot you out to the mound for a big thank you from the crowd for your service and sacrifice.

Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Well folks I just got back from NY!!!!

For those that don't know, the guys in my police dept. paid for a trip to NY, including two tickets to the Yankee games last Fri. and Sat.

It was unreal!! There was an NYPD cruiser there to greet us at the airport and we had police escorts everywhere we went in NY. I got to see ground zero which was pretty emotional for me and the cops that were with me. Every cop I talked to there knew someone who died that day.

I then got a tour of the aviation unit and got to ride in an NYPD helicopter, they took me past the statue of liberty, Yankee stadium, Ground Zero, and the Empire state building.

I went to Yankee stadium and went to monument park and also met the NYPD captain in charge of stadium security. My nephew and I were given access to an area right next to where the players come out and we were able to get about 13 autographs. Some of the players were the nicest guys!! There was a Sgt. from the Army there and when he heard my story he started crying and hugging me. He told me that he was headed back to Iraq and didn't want to go. It was really emotional for us both. I told him I would pray for him. The guy who sang the National Anthem was a country music singer who was a former Ranger in the Army. He was in Somalia during the "Black Hawk Down" incident and received a bronze star. I was able to shake his hand and thank him, he was a great guy and we talked for a few minutes.

Needless to say it was the perfect weekend for me and was exactly what I needed!!! Therapy was getting on my nerves lately and I'm still fighting with the builders on the new addition to my house so getting away was just perfect!

To be honest though, as much as I enjoyed getting the autographs and actually seeing the Yankees in person, I got the biggest thrill out of being with the NY cops and talking to all the military personnel I met.

I've still posting on a laptop I bought in 2000. It's a whopping 550 MHz, since I upgraded the processor. I use it to do Office stuff since the company supplied Dell Latitude 610 is too slow.
(G3 Powerbook [Pismo]--> G4 550)

For those intrigued by the my deleted bunny post (she said I could repost, here). I thought ST's photo skills reminded me of this. I swear, I only had one (64 oz.) beer when I posted it on the bunny thread.

- Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I gotta get down to a pizza joint and try some of these new delicacies called "Elastic Loaves".

- Sounds delicious, and who among us could doubt an indorsement from the Iranian high Pubah himself, Nadinajerk. Wonder if it comes in an Ohahu version, (with chipped camel, pepperoni-goat, or humus).

- I guess when you're losing your ass it's a great time to just change the words for everything, and their meaning's. Hey, it works for the moonbats.

- I wonder if the people of Iran will get the message that their Mullah's are not popular when half the country is molten glass.

Yay for the new computer! I'm trying desperately to stick with this Gateway through Christmas, at least, at which time I'm hoping to jump ship and get myself one of those new Mac laptops.

That is, if I can avoid blowing all the money I have saved for it on my first niece/nephew due in February. Mac money would buy a lot of booties. ;)

and extra left over bits to prove it

I know what you mean. Everytime I take something apart and put it back together, there are leftover parts, but it always seems to work. So, I figure if I take something apart and put it back together again enough times I'll have two of them. Just one of life's cosmic mysteries. :-?

Heh .. Ditto Karl ...

My home rigs I built myself since the wife and I both online games. I built my mother-in-law's out of old parts as I upgraded the two main rigs. My Daughters is an old Dell XPS that I loaded with Ubuntu Linux (she only needs to check mail and such).

Lotsa rigs ... you should see our power bill!
