When I read the story of the friendship between U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.) and Patrick Kennedy, rooted in their common addictions and nurtured by the support Ramstad is giving Kennedy in helping him to overcome his addiction, I was impressed. That said, my husband has been sober for just shy of 31 years. A sobriety that cost him and/or his health insurance company (if he even had health insurance then!) nothing but the willingness to admit he had a problem, be accountible to others, and attend free support group meetings.

I guess the rehab bills for Patrick and Ted are draining the off shore Kennedy trust funds. Heavens, they may not be able to pay their laywer bills to fend off the women they’ve wronged and to keep them out of jail for their habitual DUIs.

Just like the Kennedys, they always look to the public to fund their fun.

hmmm…he is guilty of drinking, driving, crashing, and special treatment. now he is trying to turn it around and blame it on his insurance company. nice try.

Yes, yes, it’s always somebody or something elses fault. Good grief Kennedy, get a clue. Take some personal responibility for you OWN actions.

It would seem his alcoholism has fermented his brain. Another silly, utopian idea. Yeesh!:o

Well I can see why you reserved comment. Where does one being to enumerate the inane excuses?

Moral relativity, it’s not just the hot sauce, it’s the whole enchiliada! (A rip off of Chris Ledoux lyric-great man-died way too young)

There is an increasingly lengthy list of *valid* reasons for how and why the choices people make, put them and others at risk. Why is it some one else’s responsibility to pay for correcting their own problems? In that vein of, or should I say vain thinking and since we’re already on a downhill grease run, it’s no leap at all to demand someone else also pay for the booze, drugs or anything else on the everyday Christmas list, as well as the *treatment*. Since they’re already in the tunnel to Alice’s house, why not demand a high quality never ending supply of booze and FDA approved cocaine while they’re at it.

All jokes aside. Really! ALL jokes aside! Mr. Ken needy this means you! Step away from the halls of responsibility while you’re transfixed with delirium. Quoting fools is usually reserved for fools stating foolish quotes. (For an exhaustive list: See the Kosbot section or any number of other whiners, either by profession or trade) However, since this fellow was placed in a position where presumably the living voters have requested sanity to rule the day, his foolish quote of, “I have an addiction,” he said. “I have a mental illness.” , bears repeating and not just through the November elections. “Kennedy said his condition is one over which he has no control……”

I can accept that among the things he lacks, in spite of an inexhaustible mountain of money, is control. I concur as well, that he’s long on mentally ill. He’s had a lifetime of people clearing paths for his ascension, all the way to the bottom of a not entirely self-made pit of personal Hell, that he will gladly share the profits of. I actually do feel sorry for him and those who are as confused as he is. But feelings don’t get it done at the end of the day. Actions do and his actions speak louder than a cheap romance novel. The single most prominent fact that the Kennedy family has financial resources greater than several small countries combined, is proof enough that just as in the case of the billions of wasted dollars squandered in the name of *education*, throwing good money after bad DOES. NOT. WORK. EVER! It never has nor ever will!

These completely spineless drones with encompassing powers are suffering at their own hand and demanding the American voters both living and dead, pay for yet another fruitless venture into wanderland. I’d be willing to sell them maps for a lengthy promenade off a very short pier. For an additional small cash fee, I’ll gladly deliver them to the starting point. They will either learn to swim in life’s seas or they’ll sink w/o dragging someone else down with them. That too is a choice. It’s hard to freestyle with a kit in one hand and a bottle clutched in the other.

Just another kennedy spewing protect my ass stuff, insurance does pay for mental and nervous conditions, I worked in a hospital for several years but your mental nervous coverage is not a much as your straight medical, thats probably what the brat was bitchin about but he NEEDS to do his damn job and get this changed, but insurance will not continue to cover the alcoholics that go on countless binders and mix drugs with the sauce. Sorry patrick.
    What a butt:(|)

“Likens alcohol to asthma”, well, I drink beer and wine; and am severely allergic to poison ivy and yellow jacket stings. So I responsibly utilize the first two, and avoid the latter. So because Patrick Kennedy lacks self control, he will introduce some bill that will do what? Have a law that requires a waiting period at the pharmacy?
