I think Ron’s got the right take on this. What’s the Sabato’s motive to say this about a candidate? What’s it based on?

In the case of Allen, this is so much of a tempest in a teapot. 20 years ago I got sucker punched by a black guy. What I said was, “What the F*** did you do that for?” What I was thinking involved the “n” word, and some other choice adjectives. Was that a racial thing? At the moment it surely was. And I don’t regret it. Would I have verbalized it? No, I don’t think so. But, since he was with 5 other black fellows, using the “n” word would have been fairly foolish. Have I used it since? No, I don’t think so. And I know I never used it out loud, even in my ignorant youth – I wasn’t raised that way.

Allen may well have used the word in his youth. I could not care less. He is not who he was back then; none of us are the same people we were.

Let the Dems cut their own throats on this. The truth will come out eventually and they’ll look as desperate as always.

Well, until he makes outlandish statements in public we can’t say these things.

I have read his work and also do not find him a conservative but he is not an outspoken liberal either. He seems sometimes to just be uninformed and believing of the mainstream presses drivel sometimes on some issues. But that doesn’t disqualify his credibility because he doesn’t go off the deep end like many who take the drive by legacy media’s drivel as gospel.

I’d take a Larry Sabato over a John Zogby any day as Zogby’s activism is too much.

Excellent analysis ST. As for questioning Sabato, I have a friend who is a poli sci professor. She TA’d for Sabato at UVA and she has lots to say about him off the record. She claims he is an ass, full of himself and primarily interested in promoting himself. He is certainly no conservative as some in the media have claimed. His main goal is to sell his books and publicity like this simply can’t be bought.

The funny thing is they probably don’t even know how muddy they look.

I don’t give a hoot about what someone may or may not have said racially thirty years ago. What does the man’s record in office say about him and his character.
I don’t believe Democrats anyway since they have shown they will lie, cheat and steal to regain office.
They can’t debate the issues so they invariably just attempt to smear their opponents. they don’t deserve to lead this nation.

How low can they go, someone should look into the good doctor’s background, maybe someone heard him use the word since he grew up in the South.
I’m from Alabama, alot of folks still use that word, I don’t, my best friend at my old place of employment is black, she used the word all the time being critical of some of the more colorful employess but not every white in the South uses that word, lets get that straight ….. but wait, robert sheets byrd uses it often, but, hey, I forget, he is a democrat.

Thank you ST for this post. In the last Allen post it was said that you can’t question Sabato’s credibility. I posted that you don’t have to that you only need question the accuracy of the drive by legacy media making the claims about Sabato’s words. They got it wrong again. Sabato had to come out due to people making false assertions about what Sabato said as if Sabato heard Allen personally. Sabato didn’t. The drive by legacy media proves their irrelevancy even more every day.
