Those parachutes are very cool. I first saw such things on ultralights, and they have saved a fair number of lives. Recently I noticed they were available for certain smaller private planes. Very cool.

Imagine the size chute you’d need for a 747!

I’ve never seen a parachute like that on a small plane, that’s pretty smart. It’s such a shame what happened, as a Yankee fan it was so sad to read about it.

I would say what Olberman said was unbelievable, but at this point I would expect nothing less of him.

Well… they would’ve been too low for the parachute to be effective… (too open up it needs distance and speed I suppose).

This seems like sudden mechanical failure; with that plane parachute, they could have landed in the east river, and get plucked out by the NYPD, or the Coast Guard. The investigation could take a year, and even then we might not know the cause.

You know, I am beginning to think more and more about the whole moonbat explosion theory. I think there could of been explosions during in this attack. Since no one whatsoever would inspect checked luggage, what would stop the terrorists from putting small explosive devices in them??? I just think it is completely asinine to believe that George Bush set up explosives and am not at all let down by the travelers on the left who are so quick to blame GW and turn a blind eye at the possiblity of explosions caused by the terrorists. – Lorica

- Yes, reliable reports say that he and his passenger were killed in the crash.

- One sidelight is that an officer from Norad was interviewed and confirmed the fact that jet over-flights were scrambled over uo to 30 american and canadian cities withing 10 minutes of the crash.
