– I’m loving it. As far as “taking to the streets”, this is just another of the childish “tantrum” tactics on the left, whenever mommy voter spanks them.

– For some of their rag tag gaggle that would simply consist of pushing the newspapers off, rolling over and walking up the block. They’ve tried everything so far but hold their breath till they turn purple, yet the only thing they seem to be able to win thus far, is loaded polls.

– When you think about it, since they seem to be unable to grasp its their ideology that America rejects, their paranoia is not that surprising. Lets hope they take a long sidewalk stroll again on Nov. 7th.

Vicente Fox was forced to forego the last state-of-the-nation address of his presidency Friday after leftist lawmakers stormed the stage of Congress to protest disputed July 2 elections.

Why does “storming the stage” sound familiar when it comes to Democrats? Ah, Gilchrist and the Minutemen speaking engagement. We already see how they act if they don’t like what they see……

The standoff came six days before the top electoral court must declare a president-elect or annul the July 2 vote and order a new election. So far, rulings have favored ruling party candidate Felipe CalderÃ³n, who was ahead by about 240,000 votes in the official count.

LÃ³pez Obrador has already said he won’t recognize the electoral court’s decision, and he plans to create a parallel government and rule from the streets.

Could that happen here?
Is that where we are heading?

I keep seeing the Democrats acting worse and worse. The actions seem to escalate each time they lose.

Is it possible that he Democrats could push a type of “civil-war” between republicans and democrats if this continues to escalate?

What would happen if the democrats decided to say they don’t recognize the results of the election? I could bet there would be riots.

This was the atitude during the Mexican elections:

Protesters occupying Mexico City’s center said they were ready to do whatever it takes to support Lopez Obrador. Fernando Calles, a 26-year-old university professor, said he was ready to fight for the former Mexico City mayor “until the death, until the final consequences.”

I know there are attitudes like that among the Democrats, they just haven’t gotten a majority ot suport their attitudes, but what happens if that majority (liberal) takes over the democrat party?

Don’t sweat it. If they want to shoot it out for control of Congress, I’m game. Conservatives significantly outnumber liberals. At a 1:1 exchange rate the supply of liberals will be exahausted long before the supply of conservatives. Add in that conservatives are much better armed than liberals and the exchange rate will be a lot better for conservatives than 1:1.

Seems to me it’s pretty goofy for liberals to start a war they cannot win, but conservatives will be glad to finish anything they start.

I don’t think “taking to the streets” is completely new. I was genuinely afraid of the possibility in 2004 because I read about it in various places. In fact, I saw a post from Elizabeth Edwards on one of the radical boards (Democratic Underground, IIRC) asking them to remain calm.

Nothing happened.

Do I take the current rhetoric seriously? Not completely. It’s definitely not a sure thing. How likely? My guess, very unlikely. Based on 2004, nothing will happen. But that doesn’t mean nothing will happen this time or in 2008. I am still afraid something will happen.

I’d say it’s extremely unlikely. But if it does happen, the psychological effect on the country will be devastating. It could start a virtual civil war.

The technique was tested in the 2004 elections with exit polling “proving” the Democrat lead, giving rise for some to claim is was proof of the election being stolen. Looking at unions like the SEIU and their relationship to the international left, and the recent problems in Mexico become all the more troubling. It’s a model for what could happen here. On one hand, gadflys and moobats are spewing paranioa about the fitness of the American electoral process, on the other hand, internationalist elements would love nothing more than for a sizable segment of the American populace to become convinced their national elections were rigged and stolen by Republicans. There’s some dangerous ingredients in this stew being cooked up. It’s been cooking since 2000.

Someone may have already pointed this out, but the “take it to the streets” thing is hardly new. Before the last election, a liberal theater reviewer in the Village Voice casually called for the mass extermination of conservatives, and even John Edward’s wife was rumored to have made some kind of bizarre comment about mass rioting if Bush won.

They’re impotent idiots, and what this bird is talking about is *somebody else* “taking it to the streets”. If they ever did try to overthrow democracy in the country (aside from the usual Chicago vote fraud), they’d learn what “skeet” means.

There is currently a Republican serving time for jamming telephone lines in New Hampshire in the 2002 election — an election so close that those missed connections could have made the difference — and, of course the guy in the slammer made over 40 phone calls to the White House political office that day — I assume he wasn’t talking about the windows he had broken. We can compare these types of actions for days. Is anyone actually in jail for what you have described? And, someone actually had the nerve to compare this to Kristallnach? Keith–Kristallnacht happened *after* the Nazi party had achieved control over the German state. Prior to Hitler’s accesion to power, there were many lesser but still serious outbreaks of Nazi violence against Jews and against political enemies of all types. The inability of the Weimar government to control this thuggery paved the way for the Nazi takeover.

By the way, it’s Kristallnacht–“kristall” is “glass,” and “nacht” is “night.” Hence, “night of broken glass.”

Keith, Sev is exactly right. The point he’s making is that there’s an intolerant, hateful, intimidating mode of action in both cases. These’s a world of difference between tying up a phone bank and shooting up the opponent’s campaign HQ. No one gets hurt, or dead, with the former. And BTW, yes, several Dems have gone to jail for their various assualts – most notably in Milwaukee, where one of those convicted was the local Dem congresswoman’s son.

I challenge you to show me one case in which the GOP has openly organized thuggish behavior and threatened or delivered on physical violence to silence anyone’s right of free speech. There are dozens of cases – Sev’s list is only the tip of the iceberg – where the left does exactly that.

Foley’s name is on the ballot yes, but he has resigned, he will NOT be re-elected.

Insted Joe Negron is the new Republican nominee and all votes that go toward Foley’s name on the ballot will automatically be transferred to Negron.

Since you’ve already succeeded in going off the topic of this thread with non sequiturs, let’s go right to the heart of it: you have no moral standing to make any noise about Foley. You forfeited that when your House caucus gave Studds the standing ovations. Any lib who doesn’t condemn that can’t be taken seriously. And that defines you.

Let’s look at the comparisons:

– Foley: sent sick Emails and IM’s to pages. Keith thinks this is despicable. So do I. This is our last point of agreement.

– Studds: got a page drunk and molested him (that’s considered rape, by the way, Keith). Since Keith hasn’t objected to this, it’s fair to assume he’s OK with this. I think this is despicable and worse.

– Foley: quit, and no one on the GOP side has said one good word about him since. My attitude: good riddance. Keith thinks all the House leadership should also go, just on general principles. For that matter, he probably thinks all Republicans should resign over it.
– Studds: stayed on in Congress, got applauded by the likes of Nancy Pelosi for his pedophilia, and was given a committee chairmanship. Since Keith hasn’t called for Pelosi to quit, it’s fair to conclude he also condones it.

So don’t give us any horse-hockey or feigned outrage about pretending to care about the pages.

Interesting sidelight: this entire episode is actually part of the Dem strategy to get conservative voters to stay home on November 7. They seriously think all of us hate gays, and exposing GOP officeholders or staffers as gay will make us sit the election out. Their premise, of course, is wrong, and so is their conclusion.

And I rise to second PCD’s nomination of Keith as “Bottom Feeder of the Week”. Radical right? Radical right believes in cutting government by 1/2 or 80%. If the radical right had complete control of Congress and the Executive Branch we’d see a reduction in government. Government has moved leftwars every year for over 6 decades because the governing and legislationg majority is left. THis isn’t to say that some conservative ideas and solutions haven’t been partially passed by Congress (like tax cuts or 698 mile border fence or Port Security act or a few other things). But there is a significant amount of leftism in most appropriations and programs that the government hasn’t stayed the same size one year for over 6 decades. The ANSWER to the problem isn’t electing more leftists for sure. The answer is trying to elect a majority of conservatives and libertarians. An “R” does not signify an elected majority of conservatives and libertarians.

I look forward to that day and I see it coming as the monopoly of leftist drive by media was broken a little more than a decade ago and just like I converted fom liberalism in 1991 there are a lot of people who see the light. The amount of people who identify with conservativism has grown versus the amount of peple who identify with liberalism. It’s a good sign. As we have freer speech and banter about ideas our ideas or winning. The old playbook of liberals does not work anymore for a bigger and bigger segment of the population.

The funny this is that conservatives know that the majority of rank and file liberals and even some liberal leaders are “well intentioned”. AP) The House Republican campaign chairman and the speaker of the House are likely to be at odds this week as they testify about the handling of ex-Rep. Mark Foley’s come-ons to male pages.

Rep. Tom Reynolds, R-N.Y., set to appear before the House ethics committee Tuesday, has said he warned Speaker Dennis Hastert about Foley last spring.

Hastert, expected to be questioned sometime this week, has said he doesn’t remember that conversation.

A four-member ethics investigating panel is keeping key witnesses behind closed doors for hours as it tries to unravel conflicts over when and what Hastert and his staff learned about Foley’s conduct and what they did about it.

Hastert’s chief of staff, Scott Palmer, spent more than six hours before the committee Monday. Palmer has disputed one account that he was warned about Foley in 2002 or 2003.

Reynolds, head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, has said he spoke with Hastert last spring after learning of Foley’s overly friendly e-mails to a former Louisiana page, who was 16 at the time. Those e-mails were not sexually explicit.

The speaker has said he can’t recall the Reynolds warning, and has contended he doesn’t remember having a separate conversation about Foley earlier this year with Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. Boehner not only recalls speaking with Hastert, but said the speaker told him the page’s complaint “had been taken care of.”

He sure did take care of that complaint — he swept it under the rug. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

Specifics.

OK, first we’ll start with voter suppression in the 2000 election. In Florida several thousand voters were inaccuratly marked as “Felons” and could not vote. ChoicePoint was the company who compiled the scrub list of voters and identified 58,000 felons. However, 15 percent of those listed were not felons at all. As a result many voters were turned down at the polls. ChoicePoint was hired by Katheryn Harris, who was chairing George Bush’s Florida campaign in 2000, to compile the scrub list. The owner of the company had contributed $100,000 to the Republican campaign. Other owners of the company have ties to the Republican party.

I can’t give you names of the affected voters. Ask one of your Republican friends who are in with ChoicePoint. They have access to the list.

Voter suppression has a history of affecting low-income people who historically vote democratic. It’s even happening in the 2006 election where stiff new voter laws are preventing low-income people from voting. It’s a prime example of disenfranchisement strategies put in place by republican strategists.

For example in Georgia, voters must now present a Driver’s License or State ID that is only available from Georgia Dept of Motor Vehicle Offices. But the thing is, two-thirds of the counties in Georgia don’t even have a DMV office. This makes it difficult for low-income and older residents to obtain an ID to vote. Many won’t even vote as a result.

In the 2000 election polling places in lower income areas of New Orleans snaked around buildings because those polling places weren’t adequatly staffed.

In the 2004 election a Republican National Committee contractor hired Sproul and Associates to handle registration forms. However, they were caught and convicted of destroying forms filled out by voters registering as Democrats.

I could go on and on with tons of examples of voter dissenfranchisement that some folks on this blog seem to dismiss as “Leftist Conspiracy Theories”. The fact is Republican special interests are conspiring to deny Americans the right to vote. I can’t see how you all can gloss over this.

Here in Maryland, just this week, a GOP voting manual is telling Republicans at the polls to challenge voters they feel are not eligible to vote.

As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures.

As far as specifics on Bush breaking the law to trample on our civil rights. I can have a field day on that one with plenty of examples of how he is abusing his power. More on that later.

This is nobody’s fault but their own. Here in CA I have volunteered for a polling place in 1994. It was adequately staffed. You volunteer you get adequate staffing. You don’t volunteer you don’t get adequate staffing. Wouldn’t you FAULT the Democrat machine in New Orleans for this problem? Since they vote Democrat to the tune of 80%+ why is it ANYONE else’s fault? New Orleans has the system they made and voted for and created and volunteered for (or didn’t).

You go on with a list as if they were linked episodic things based on some conspiracy. There are Democrat and Republican cowards and thugs and nobody is saying that elections are perfect. Touchscreens, punch cards, scan ballots all have a slight percentage of misvoting. I’m glad there are people being prosecuted and convicted for destroying forms. Today’s election hasn’t changed my mind about Republican thug tactics. I’ve seen it first hand working at the polls today. The Ehrlich/Steele Republican campaign for governor and senate race in Maryland is distributing their version of an “Official” Democratic ballot which is designed to confuse voters. They picture Prince Georges County Executive, Democrat Jack Johnson, who is running unapposed on the cover claiming he is endorsing Steele, who is running against Democrat Ben Cardin for Senate. When in fact Jack Johnson isn’t endorsing him at all. There is a story in the Washington Post today about the flyer and Jack Johnson is fuming mad about being on the flyer without his permission and even more angry that he is misquoted as endorsing Steele. What’s worse is they are recruiting college kids from across the country to push these flyers at the polls. The college girl working at our poll today is from Texas. They dropped her off in this big white Ford van at 7:00 am with a bag of these fraudulent flyers and told her they would pick her up at 8:00 pm tonight. 13 hours with no breaks or substitutes. They even treat their own poll workers like trash. We set her straight on what the Republican party was doing and showed her the Washington Post article saying the Republican Party produced this “Official Democratic Sample Ballot” to misleed unsuspecting voters. She’s from Texas. She doesn’t know who is who around here. They just drop her off and tell her to distribute lies.

I have to give them credit for their creativity. All this misleading propaganda apparently works. In Tennessee the rascist ads benefitting Republican Bob Corker will probably help him win that Senate seat.

Like I said, the Republican Bully and Thug tactic continue.

While I will admit republicans have their share of issues and tactics that would be considered wrong, or sometimes unethical, when compared to Democrats and how they operate, they come out looking like Angels in comparison.

When is the last time you heard a republican shoot a candidate worker? You didn’t, it was a Democrat.

Trash Military offices? Vandalize cars? Slash tires? Threaten voters? Intimidate voters? ect….

We have posted before PROOF and articles concerning DEMOCRATS activities in all those areas. Meanwhile you complain about some republican dropping a helper off to distribute pamphlets?

While i don’t think they should be operating alone, especially on how Democrats like to gang up on idividual republicans to shout them down or intimidate them, this person was obviously a volunteer. Again, while I don’t think she was or should have been alone, to compare this to what has been done by Democrats is laughable.

Actually, sanity’s right…when I think of thugs, I think of physical violence against people and property, which is the exclusive domain of the Dems.

But let us stay on point! Since Chip is soooooo upset about misinformation in ads, let’s all run over to the threads about the MJ Fox ads, and let’s all read how Chip objected to that bit of dishonesty in advertising.

Or how about the thread on the Josh Lansdale ad by the McCaskill campaign, and the lies in that one. Let’s go see how Chip tore into the Dems on that.
