Taranto had a good take on this on his “Best of the Web” yesterday. He rightly points out that if blacks stay away from the polls because they think their votes don’t count, the Dems have no one to blame but themselves. It’s been the Dems who have whined and shrieked about black voter disenfranchisement after every lost election since 2000, despite the fact that investigations have never shown any malfeasance. So guys, congratulations, you’ve managed to deter one part of your base all on your own. Keep crying about the election results and implying, against all facts, that you wuz robbed, and then wonder why your base doesn’t think it’s worth turning out. Idiots.

The Times is “some-ing” again:

“there are worries among Democratic strategists in some states that blacks may not turn up at the polls in big enough numbers because of disillusionment over past shenanigans.”

The newspaper is one against resorting to the “tyranny of the some.” To make, err, some story out of no story, they use the phrase “some states,” which is of course so vague a term as to be meaningless. Is this a majority of states? A majority of strategists? Who knows?

Then, of course, they find “some” people who support the idea of the story who quote back to the reporter what the reporter wants to hear.

Anyway, it would seem to me that if any individual or group is suffering from “disillusionment over past shenanigans,” then they would be–or at least should be–more determined than ever to get out and vote.

But, hey, that’s just me.

Funny how it turns out Foley’s “outter” was a former Democratic Senate staffer and was used by a gay-rights group. How can Democrats still think this stuff won’t get out? They’re even to incompetent to pull off an October surprise. They’re convulsively desperate at this point!

I just noticed something interesting about this site’s sofware. I typed “Accurate way too early” in the box, but it appeared in the post as “Accurate way to early.” I noticed this in the text that appears of your post, the preview, below the panel for entering text, and it carried over into the posted text. Weird bug.

I also think Democrats seem to get a case of election jitters that leads to “premature electionation.” They tend to pop the corks on their October surprises too soon. In 04, CBS shot off the Bush National Guard Fake But Accurate way to early, it gave the blogosphere plenty of time to find the warts on that one and shove it back in their faces. The Foley issue was broached way too early as well, voters have had a month now to forget about it. The MSM has done their usual journeyman duty, reporting on Foley over and over and over again, way more than was warranted by the events, but that has gotten to the point where it’s just boring people now and turning them off.

It would appear that the democrats are a little worried even before the events of last night that the election might not go as planned. Good, both sides should be working on actually selling their ideas to the public.

If you start planning offices and measuring drapes before the election, its a sure sign your not paying attention to what you should be doing..
