I was predicting that the Republicans would hold onto the Senate with a one-seat majority, and the Democrats would take the House by three, maybe four seats. But after Kerry's unexpected gift to the Republicans, I'd say they might hold onto the Senate by two, possibly three... and the House is now a coin flip. It all depends upon how the Republicans play it, and how the GOTV effort goes.

I guess if you've been surveyed and I haven't, you've arrived, and I'm still out looking through the weeds.

- It all comes down to historical precedence. The "in" party during wartime tends to maintain, largely due in part to a restive electorate that waffles on changing horse's in midstream. ANY success on Bush's part would just exascerbate that situation. So. The Dems know all this starting with Afghanistan. They were hoping for a quick end to things after that phase, and when it didn't happen, and Bush moved on Hussein, you could hear the audible moans from inside the beltway. The Dems have no choice but to root against the US in Iraq. They need that action to be over by ‘08, or they're very possibly facing another 8 years of Republican incumbancy. They don't even make a lame attempt to hide it anymore. It's that obvious, particularly with the cheerleading from the feckless drive-by media.

- It's understandable with a party that scoffs at everything "American", but at the same time there's no reason we can't tell them and their ideology to go **** themselves.

- This morning the Dems themselves, from many quarters are virtually begging Kerry to apologize. He did make a few lame comments this morning, saying "He was not happy about his "botched joke", and that it was stupid. This is probably the closest we'll see him get to an honest retraction and apology. At the same time, any aspirations he might have had at a potential second bid in '08 just went out the window, not that he had much chance anyway, because even in the most rabid gaggle of the nutroots he's considered "damaged goods".

- What the Dems have to pray doesn't happen is an embittered Kerry goes on a "pillage and burn" campaign, something they know all too well from his narrcissitic personality, is very possible.

I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to get used to the sound of "Speaker Pelosi". Feh!

Here in Colorado, the House race for Beauprez's seat is going to the Dem, no question. The lying SOB, Ed Pulmutter, ran a completely negative campaign and O'Donnell, the Rep, waited too long to go respond, giving the electorate far too much credit for the ability to see through the lies.

Oh well. Two years isn't that long. Life under Pelosi will be a major motivator for our side in '08. Lose the battle, but win the war.
