Encouraging poll news for the GOP

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on November 5, 2006 at 10:20 pm

Brian blogged earlier today about the generic poll shift that is trending to the GOP. Well, there is more encouraging news on that front. Stop The ACLU has the details.

On a related election day note, I’d like to remind North Carolina readers that it is not noted on the ballot whether or not a judical candidate is a Republican or Democrat, but if you’d like to know more about the candidates for various courts here in NC (including the NCSC) who have been endorsed by conservatives, go to this website. It’s important to go to the polls just to vote for judges alone. I know what will happen here in Charlotte as far as local elections (liberals tend to get elected and re-elected here) and even though that’s frustrating, there are those judicial races to consider that go beyond the political races.

DOD also has 5 myths debunked..

In it is the following info:

MYTH 3: The administration has been distracted from waging an effective war in Afghanistan by Iraq.
FACTS: Today there are more Coalition forces in Afghanistan than at any time since Operation Enduring Freedom began in 2001.

      * In March 2003, the United States had about 9,500 troops in Afghanistan. Today, there are more than 21,000 U.S. forces either under U.S. or NATO command in Afghanistan or directly supporting missions there. Some 20,000 troops from 37 NATO and non-NATO nations are also committed to the effort

      * As Gen. Karl Eikenberry, commander of Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, noted recently: “NATO and U.S.-led Coalition and Afghan national security forces are moving aggressively to deny the enemy safe havens, to interdict his movement routes, and most importantly to extend the authority of the central government. … [T]he progress we’re making in Afghanistan is significant.”

      * As Qari Mohammed Yousaf Ahmadi, generally viewed as the Taliban’s chief spokesman, stated on Sept. 15, 2006: “The Taliban forces have conducted a tactical retreat.”

      Also this one:

MYTH 5: U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Eric Shinseki was “fired” “removed” or “cashiered” after suggesting the need for more troops.
      FACTS: This is demonstrably false.

      * Gen. Shinseki was appointed to a four-year term as chief of staff of the Army and served his full term. When Gen. Shinseki made his oft-cited statement about troop levels in February 2003 during a congressional hearing, it was already well-known that his term would end six months later. Serving longer would have been extraordinary. The only two men to serve longer than four years in the entire 103-year history of the position have been Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Gen. George Marshall.

Also Sister Toldjah Don’t forget to tell the people about voting.

Republicans Must Vote On Tuesday November 7th

Democrats Must Vote On Wednesday November 8th

Polls, schmolls…remember the “exit” polls that showed Kerry winning? =))

      I rest my case:-@

I’m with Camo. Pay no attention to that Poll behind the curtains!

    5. CavalierX says:

A week ago, I was predicting that the Republicans would lose more than 20 House seats and 5 or 6 Senate seats, giving the House to the Dems and putting retention of the Senate at 50-50. Now, I think they will only lose a few Senate seats, retaining control by a slim margin, and even stand a 50-50 chance of retaining the House.

On an unrelated note, Karl Rove has been seen shopping for “Thank You” cards at the Hallmark store, and asked his secretary to look up the addresses of John Kerry’s (family’s) six mansions…

    6. Baklava says:

For those who don’t think that there is a dime’s worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans check this out …. and then vote Republican as if your wallet depends on it…

For specific races in battleground states:

Want to get specific on proposed spending increases? Let’s look at specific “battleground” Senate races, again from the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union:

      Missouri -
      Democrat Claire McCaskill: $43.7 billion
      Republican Jim Talent: $3.4 billion

      Arizona-
      Democrat Jim Pederson: $87.6 billion
Republican John Kyl: Negative $143 million

      Montana-
      Democrat Jon Tester: $89.4 billion
      Republican Conrad Burns: $1.2 billion

      Michigan-
      Democrat Debbie Stabenow: $42 billion
Republican Mike Bouchard: Negative $1.2 billion

      Tennessee-
Democrat Harold Ford, Jr: $34.1 billion
      Republican Bob Corker: $1.5 billion

If I could I’d move just to vote for Mike Bouchard or John Kyl. Why? Because the proposed more reductions than increases. This my friends is to the right of center. All others are to the LEFT of center. Just Democrats are MORE LEFT of center. You will NOT get less spending with Democrats. That’s for sure.

    7. Tom TB says:

Vote carefully; then when you reach the unprotected out-of-the “NO ELECTIONEERING” zone, tell the exit-pollster, “Who did I vote for? Man, that was so long ago, I don’t remember!”. The box “Unresponsive” will be checked, and you can have a good laugh watching the evening news!

    8. - Well, well, well…Looks like the Dems have trotted out their “go-to” guy, Al (global hot air) Gore, since Kerry did his “shovel in the mouth”, new stand up routine. Gore was at the Cardin campaign, trying to shore up Cardin’s flagging prospects after that “whats the Patriot act” gaffe in the debates with Steele the other day. Steele is coming on like a frieght train, and even Gore, who looked like death warmed over, soberly stated that: “It could all come down to this race whether we take back Congress, or not”.

      - Meanwhile, Schumer was busy on capital hill today, downplaying the Dems position, and enumerating all the reasons of why the Dems have an “uphill battle”, and nothing “is assured” at this point. Worries over to much pre-celebrating maybe? So much for the “earth shaking” mandate….

      - How are those drapes coming along Nancy?

      - No matter what happens tomorrow, this is shaping up to be the weakest “mandate” in politics, in the last 100 years, which doesn’t bode well for the Dhimmi’s in ‘08…..
