He does, however, admit that he is telling people when they vote to just vote straight Democrat. That is entirely inapproprated and unlawful behavior for a poll worker!

Which amounts to electioneering inside the polling place, and that's completely illegal. However, this is Philadelphia, a city that has probably overtaken Chicago as the most fraud-ridden operation in the country. I'll be shocked if the local DA - a Democrat, naturally - even looks into it.

You can't help but notice how this Democrat poll worker would fit in nicely in Cuba or North Korea, two other socialist utopias where they tell you how you have to vote. :-w

He says that this is a 100% democrat precinct so what are Republicans worried about?

There's plenty to worry about. Being a "100% democrat precinct" does not allow you to not abide by the rules. He whined that there were no Republican votes to supress, that's not the main issue poll watchers are looking for, particularly in a "100% democrat precinct." Try stuffing ballot boxes, not checking ID, letting anyone vote a provisional ballot, running/counting the provisional ballots whether you are supposed to or not, etc. etc. etc., all from the long litany of Democrat voter fraud tactics. And telling people to vote democrat, repulsive and illegal, but this is the face of the typical Democrat poll worker unfortunately. How dare you interfere with our vote fraud, you're intimidating our voters!

I just watched the video you linked to and it seems to show a guy being interviewed. He is, apparently defending his actions. He says that this is a 100% democrat precinct so what are Republicans worried about? While it does NOT show him blocking access to the polls, it does seem to verify that he has done just that. Still, it isn't enough for me to run with.

Looking for links to the story...funny part was seeing this in Google:

Daily Kos: Philadelphia fraud - DEBUNKED

I decided to go there to read what they had....

Sorry. I can't seem to find that story.

{laughs}

On to looking at philly news comments posted on voting...

Philadelphia-1st ward, 1st district, all machines did not work this morning....

11/7/2006 11:36 AM
....

I voted this morning in East Pikeland, Chester Co.
(521 East Pikeland 3. I was in line before 7Am and was 6th in line. I have two concerns.
1. The poles opened between 7:05 and 7:10. I was not 6th to vote but midway between 10 and 20. This is minor -but an annoyance.

2. A more pressing concern for me was the followin. East Pikeland uses a paper ballot. This ballot is then scanned. A gentleman stood over the scanner to instruct voters how to scan their ballots. He could see my ballot as it scanned. Don't we have a constitutional right to a secret ballot? My ballot was far from secret.

3. Another thought -ballots are numbered and assigned to a voter. A record of the ballot number is in the voter register -so again Did I have a secret ballot?

11/7/2006 11:11 AM
....

I voted this morning at the Palumbo Rec Center. The poll worker there insisted that I needed a picture ID in addition to my voter registratin card to vote. I have a driver's license, so I was not prevented from voting, but it was upsetting that the poll worker does not have a basic understanding of the ID requirements. Or he's hoping others don't. Either way - very bad.

11/7/2006 10:57 AM
....

No problem with voting in Upper Darby. The new touchscreen machines were great. I read the flyer to explain it but the person there explained it very well.

11/7/2006 10:28 AM
....

In Lebanon County, the system was "off line" as the polls opened. Central PA radio stations had people calling to say they voted and there were foul ups, i.e. a straight R ticket went straight D or votes for Rendell and Casey were registered to Swann and Santorum and vice versa. Those who cehcked their screens before pushing the "vote" button were able to change their votes and, apparently, those came out all right.

11/7/2006 10:20 AM
....

No problems with the new touchscreen machines being used in Newtown Township, PA. People were in and out more quickly than when the lever machines were used.

11/7/2006 10:19 AM
....

In precincts 7, 19, 51 in Philly, PA, the crowds are going wild. Inside several voting locations, individuals have poured white out onto the polling books and the poll workers are allowing voters to go into the polls and vote without first registering. Several individuals are on hand demanding that voters vote straight Democrat.

RNC lawyers have headed to the scene of the incidents, which are occurring in mostly hispanic precinct locations. The District Attorney has also been contacted.

More from the ground: Reports of voter intimidation by son-in-law of Philadelphia City Commissioner in 19th Ward. Carlos Mantos is not allowing Republican poll watchers with valid poll-watching certificates monitor polling places.

11/7/2006 10:11 AM
....

RE: my polling place in south philly, Just to let you know Olivia, this stuff happens ALL THE TIME. Though everytime I've voted in Philly it's pressure from Democratic supporters.(usually labor unions) I agree w/ you, I think it should be against the law to try & sway someone seconds before they enter the voting booth. Sadly though, it's just the reality in this city and many others. The only thing you can do is to refuse their offerings (democratic or republican) and vote for the people you feel will do the best job.

11/7/2006 9:51 AM
....

At my polling place in South Philly 1701 S. 10th St., near 10th and Morris there was a man standing next to the voter sign-in table who was handing out Republican pamphlets. He looked like he worked there so I took it from him, but now I wish I would have shredded it and threw it back in his face. I also noticed a holy bible on the table while I was checking in. Im new to Philly, but these sort of tactics just seem totally unlawful. Theyre hoping to give some last minute pressure on people to vote conservatively, and it makes me sick. Whats up with that?

11/7/2006 9:17 AM
....

I woke up at 5 am this morning to vote before work. I live in Buckingham and I am registered to vote in Plumstead Township PA. I went to my normal voting facility (Tohickon Middle school and I was told there was no voting ggoing on at this facility today. So I asked a an administrator where I can vote and she sent me to a place that had no voting going on either. I was never givin any information where to vote and I am pissed off!! I would up driving around Doylestown all morning and still never found a voting facility. ANd I think it is PATHETIC that voting polls only open in PA at 7am! Why is NJ 6 am and PA is 7am. ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS!

11/7/2006 8:06 AM
....

When I first arrived, they said the machines were down and you couldn't vote, then they changed their minds. No one there seemed to know what they were doing and the "official" outside was rude when he discovered what party I was. I don't think a polling place should have people outside influencing voters. The entire time I was voting two people were behind the machine. I have no idea what they were doing. And there is nothing telling you you voted! they didn't even know. I called the Election Bureau and the man I spoke to was rude and not concerned at all. So I'm not sure who you are supposed to notify who cares.

I can't find a word anywhere about this. Red State is usually reliable but I'm starting to wonder if this is actually true. Knowing Philly, it is certainly believable but is it true? I wish I could find out. I'd hate to see a report like this come out and prove to be a false allegation.
