Still stuck at work, but wishing I could do just that here.
My story? I’m going to karate class (my daughters are taking karate). Bye y’all.
Drudge reporting: AP: Democrats win control of Senate with Jim Webb victory in Virginia…
Cindy Sheehan trying to stay in the spotlight again..

The nightmare is how will air traffic control handle so many brooms in the air if Hillary wins in 08?
Well, this is sad and embarrassing to admit… but I cried last night. My husband came home from work, and I was in tears over the whole election mess. I know that sounds bizarre, but I kind of live and breathe this stuff. It’s more important than my REAL JOB is to me. Honestly, I could be fired at my job (which pays well, actually), and it would have far less impact on me than this stuff does. I’d just find another job.
What was especially hard was seeing Rick Santorum lose (I live in PA). Sure, I knew it was coming all along, but it was painful just the same. He’s a good man. I firmly believe that. And seeing good people thrown overboard while people like Ted Kennedy prosper, well, it’s too much sometimes. Seems like evil is rewarded too often.
So, that’s me. Don’t laugh too hard.
Don’t feel bad, Beth, I know how you feel. I just realized last night that once the dems force our troops out of Iraq, it will completely collapse on itself allowing Iran to take over and prop itself up. Once that is complete I will have lost both my legs for absolutely no reason.
- NC cop hang in there. Here’s the shortest way I can put it. You and I both know how the Dems lied for the past 6 years. They will not cut and run in Iraq. They are already dropping that line totally, because the core of the party knows it would doom them for any chance in ‘08, if we actually “lose”, by just pulling out. This isn’t 1974, and as much as they tried to paint it that way, to demonize bush, the Dems know full well that Iraq ia no VietNam. They’re scared to death that a colaapse in Iraq will be blamed squarely on them now. Isn’t responsibility wonderful?
- and btw….your sacrifice will always be respected, worthwhile, and meaningful to all but a small gaggle of American hating idiots. They can never change that. Never.

Beth, no one’s laughing at you. I understand and agree. Sometimes you wonder how anyone could possibly vote for a Ted Kennedy, between his personal loathesomeness and the way he conspired with the Soviets against the US. But then you realize – these are libs voting for him. They have no standards.
I’m taking an optimistic approach to this long term. I expect the liberals, now that they’re in charge of Congress, will overplay their hand. If they were smart, they’d soft-pedal their agenda for a while, but you know libs – they think they have divine right to power and they think the election proves they have some sort of mandate to ram every loony left idea down our throats right away.
I expect to see tons of wasteful investigations, just for show. I expect to see them try to raise taxes as soon as possible. I expect that they’ll try borking any good SCOTUS nominees. They’ll try to ruin the health care system. And sadly, I expect they’ll defund the WOT and hand the islamofascists a victory in Iraq. All of which will backfire on them in ‘08 and in ‘10.
I’ve always thought that the American voter is more reactive than proactive. They won’t be inspired by a candidate who looks ahead, anticipates problems, and devises solutions. It takes some really bad situations (real or imagined) to get them to sit up and take notice, and then they’ll react. Look at how little effect the strong economy had on this past election – voting to maintain that would be proactive. Voting based on the constant MSM drumbeat of “failure” in the WOT, however, got their attention.
Which brings me back to the liberals going off the deep end now that they run Congress. If they try pushing through too much of the DU/Kos/Pelosi agenda, they’ll be out in two years. Especially if they get some of it enacted, and it blows up in their face.
Think about it this way – if we never had Jimmy Carter, we would not have had Ronald Reagan. The Dems now have enough rope to hang themselves. I’m betting they do just that.
and btw….your sacrifice will always be respected, worthwhile, and meaningful to all but a small gaggle of American hating idiots. They can never change that. Never.
Amen to that, Bang. Perfectly said.
I second that, GWR.
Beth, NC, there are simply those among us that are incapable of grasping the horrific idea, that other animals that resemble human beings superficially, could actually want to see them dead. Fortunately for them, other courser men and women, aware of the gutteral nature of the real world, will fight and die so that those unwilling individuals may go on living.
- It has happened many times before, and it will happen again. No respect for the sacrifice will be given, nor expected, no understanding even of what has been sacrificed, or taken place. It will be done without thanks, in many cases to the words of derision from those same protected souls.
- There are people like yourself NC, many more Americans than our enemies can allow themselves to believe, that make those sacrifices unselfishly for nobel, and morally righteous reasons, that those unwilling souls cring from in secret shame. Their words are from a pool of deep personal guilt. It effects not those with a steady and honest heart. They know what they do, and do it without hesitation, in spite of the disrespect that a few will cover their own evavsive cowardice with.
- Don’t ever let any of those feckless morons try to tell you otherwise, or make you feel a tiny bit less proud of what you’ve done.
- As Adams said: “This sort of selfless sacrifice is of the highest order of love for your fellow countrymen, the very heart and meaning of the word of Patriotism”.
- Bang
Thanks NC Cop. I know I’m just one individual, but please know how much your duty and sacrifice means to me — and my family, too. I don’t have ample words to express it, but thank you for, well, just existing and doing everything you’ve done.
Thank you, too, GWR. The kind words – and the hopeful ones — mean a lot. Heck, I’ve done nothing much to deserve them, but I appreciate it just the same.
Promise me that we’re all going to hang in there and keep fighting the good fight on this stuff. Sometimes, the right people do prevail, and we’ve got to keep working to try to make it happen!

This is so true. Ace had a good post earlier tonight about the conservatives who (allegedly) didn’t vote for whatever reason. Some of them were angry about immigration — so now they’ve essentially voted in the party that can’t wait for more illegals to get here! And, to top it all off, they’ve hurt one area (judges) where conservatives have been making decent progress. You’d think people would be able to guess that there are consequences to their votes — but, sometimes, they seem not to realize at all.
C’mon gang. What did Churchill say about never giving up? Just because we didn’t vote for most of these buffoons, they are still OUR representatives and as such are there on OUR behalf. Make your feelings known to them, particularly when they’re about to do something stu…liberal. Write, fax, phone, email, carrier pidgeon. Do the same for any conservatives you feel is waiting in the wings so that should that guy have a chance, he’ll be more than ready to go. It ain’t over, it’s just their turn.
- I don’t believe any of the talking heads on TV have a clue. The Dems are not going to do hardly any of things the pols are yammering about. The out front “face’s” are not calling the shots. The core Democratic political advisor people know:
- Yesterday was more an expression of voter frustration with Bush to some extent, but even more the entire Congress, not a dem mandate “for” anything.
- You can’t win on a consistant basis if you’re basic party thrust is more than +/- 35% left or right of center. From this point on until the ‘08 elections are history, the extremes in both parties are irrelevant. The Dems used the hard left for thier purpose’s, but now they can’t afford the craziness. Say goodbye to the hard left.
- If anything that even smacks of a “total collapse” in Iraq occurs, it will now be layed squarely at the doorstep of the Dems. No more “we aren’t in charge” excuse escape hatches now.
- The Dems know that one of the knocks on their party, and something the Reps hammered on so hard that has the electorate worried, is taxes. They are also aware the’ve been handed a very shaky slim opportunity to have an honest chance in ‘08. They’ll either run away from tax hikes like a scoulded goose, or possibly even try a few half hearted cuts.
- They may even take the initiative on border control in some low level, unmeaningful ways, just to give the impression they’re serious about fixing it. Of course just like the reps, it won’t amount to much, because neither party wants to give up it’s precious Hispanic voter block.
- Screwing up on any one of those precipts will blow it for the Dems for ‘08. It isn’t going to happen, unless they’re even dumber than some think they are.

I promise Beth
Open post? How about a plug for my posts on baldilocks.
Hydrogen?
Minimum wage
Bak – I promise I’ll give it a tumble tomorrow… I’m about blogged out for today. Cheer-leading all these sad faces is tough work!
- Bang
Thanks Baklava (and thanks Bang as well — see I’m smiling more already)
That’s good.
I did one more post at Baldilocks about the Michigan Civil Rights initiative. IT PASSED. WOOO HOO ! And the Republican leaders in Michigan didn’t even support it!!
There’s something to smile about Beth. Our kids will maybe see a country without race preferences/discrimination.
I don’t know why. I’m not and haven’t been sad. If the House under Dem management deluges the White House in a time of war with subpoenas then I’ll probably start getting not sad but angry. Constitutional law experts on either side yet precedence is clearly in Bush’s favor on the war fighting issues…
Bak … consider me checking it out. I’m awake, right?
One more thing for Baklava, if you check back here: I don’t blame you one bit for voting “yes” on the tax (I was just reading at Baldilocks). I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s more pain than anyone should have to go through, that’s for sure.
Baklava – when your daughters have finished with karate and are old enough, get them memberships in the Second Amendment Sisters of the NRA. Knowing karate is not enough to keep a woman safe now-a-days.
NC Cop – God knows of our actions and sacrifices in this life, and has promised to consider them in the life to come. Thank you for yours, from one old soldier to a young one.
Hang tough, folks. Our daily lives are not wholly dependent on what happens in Washington, D.C. or any state capitol. By staying engaged, we earn the right to scream bloody murder about what we believe is wrong and praise enthusiastically what we believe is right. Living the good life and fighting the good fight are still the best methods of demonstrating opposition to blithering mountebanks.
I live in a rural area, but would move out of a big city if I lived in one. If liberals have their ways, I’m afraid big cities are going to see more terrorist attacks. Many congressional Democrats are old enough to remember WW II and Vietnam first-hand, which makes them all the more culpable if the worst happens.
I heard Senator Joe Lieberman on Hannity, and he knows he wouldn’t be going back to the Senate were it not for Republicans and non-aligned voters; I can’t wait to see what happens when he is pressured by the same Dems who dumped him and endorsed Lamont!
Thanks to all the posters on this blog, I love ya all and we just gotta hang in there and pray that after two years of communism that sane voters will prevail again.
I hope the talk will turn again towards immagration cuz it got lost in this last cycle and God knows how many illegals got to vote and I for one won’t allow them to take over my country and make thier demands.
I’m just one little middle aged female but I ain’t done fightin yet !!!!!!!!! Will anyone join me?
Again, thanks to all of you and keep on blogging your minds on this great sie.
Beth, I promise too.
Marshall…no one’s giving up. And you have to know that the regulars here won’t be shy about letting the world know where we stand. Just like you do.
Now off to check out what kind of mischief Bak is stirring up elsewhere.
NC Cop, no matter what happens, no matter if Iraq turns into a complete failure (which I don’t think it will), if the Dems seize complete control and turn it into a FUBAR of Biblical proportions, your sacrifice was not for nothing or in vain. You served, and sacrificed, for a noble cause and a worthy reason. If people never risked anything, never sacrificed unless the outcome was guaranteed, nothing would ever get accomplished, no great causes would ever be fought for, and there would be no heroes to inspire us to be more than we are. You are my idea of what a man should be, something to aspire to. You saw a task, didn’t shirk from doing it despite the risk, were unfortunate enough to be severely injured, fortunate enough not to be killed, and have never shown any of us anything but a heads up, positive, can-do attitude. You haven’t wallowed in despair or self pity, but have comported youself with dignity, hope, optimism, and honor, and I think I speak for all of us “regulars” here that we are damned proud of you, and honored and pleased you hang out with us and give us the benefit of your insight and experience.
You’re our local hero NC Cop, would that there were more like you.

AMEN, Sev!
Thank you Beth for your kind words. I think about her so many times per hour still… We spent 90% of our time together for 4 years because we even worked together.
Bachbone, I’d have to run that by me ex…
Probably wouldn’t fly but I agree with you.
GWR, Hope you like. I’ve posted 99% of my comments here the last 1.5 years. It’s a little different being able to guest blog for someone. Lotta fun. You and I have written quite a bit and I’d say we agree a lot with each other.
NC Cop,
Your sacrifice is the reason that we can sit here and discuss these things so freely, you served with honor, never ever think that it was for nothing. The people of Iraq have had their real first taste of freedom, once a country gets a taste they never go back, all of our servicemen did God’s own work over there.
The Dims are in a real pickle of their own making, there are a couple of things I want to point out:
1. They do not have a super-majority in either the house or the senate, both are still heavily divided.
2. I may be mad at Bush for some of his domestic policy’s but he’s been dead on with the war, I seriously doubt they will sway him in that area. I don’t think they are expecting a fight, but I’m sure they will get one and if they do the minute their poll numbers drop, they will drop it.
2. They stacked their own party with what could be best described as Reagan democrats, already there is nashing of teeth because their hand picked candidates are making noises about not towing the lefty party line.
3. As others have mentioned they now whether they meant to or not, are the ones people are watching and holding responsible, if they run left it will be the end of their party.
4. Michael Steel’s campaign woke up the black voters, and not only in maryland, I predict that by the next election cycle you will see more and more black voters turning to the republican party. I really think this will have a huge effect on ‘08.
5. Whatever they do in the next 2 years is simply fodder for ‘08, I don’t think they are thinking that far ahead and honestly I think this election was a political mistake for them. If they raise taxes or screw up in Iraq of if the terrorists become emboldened (and why should they not after listening to these elite morons) and do more attacks, they will be held accountable by the voters.
It would have been much cleaner to let the conservatives win this round and then blame the whole mess on them in ‘08, by then you could run even possibly Shrillery and she would have stood a chance. But now they have to stand and deliver, with a divided house and senate, and a divided party I don’t think they are going to get much done.
The one dark cloud I see is Stevens as there are rumors he might retire, and I don’t really want to live through another borking. I think there is tons of room for us to optimistic, they have two years to ‘make things better’. And then it’s time to answer to the voters…
