I got banned from a blog once for gloating over the Alito confirmation. It was an awful feeling being on the outside looking in, unable to participate, face pressed against the virtual window. But it was a liberal blog and I was over it later that day. I have since been allowed to rejoin the debate and continue the battle as best I can.

But to be banned from ST’s site, that I could not bear.

Well, I suppose I’m already a member in spirit, but how do I achieve official standing? Please send me ASAP a membership application, plus information on whatever rituals and rites apply. Also let me know what modifications, if any, I must make to my ST shrine (oops, forgot about that restraining order again, damn it!).

If the Gentle Sister Toldjah went to all the trouble to ban this character I would bet it has something to do with the fact that she doesn’t want to hear what he/she has to say. Therefore for them to write “one more missive” simply gives Sister Toldjah more reason to ban them.

One of the basic rights we have in the US is the right to say what’s on your mind without fear of being shot. But that doesn’t translate to any right to anyone listening to what you have to say.

Bottom Line: Sister Toldjah told IM to shut up and go away, and yet they persist one more time with their inane blathering.

“I must tell you in all sincerity …”? No, there is absolutely nothing you must do.

“… I am concerned on your behalf”? So what? Who cares about your concerns?

“… a rigidity of personality …” Why is it a concern to you if Sister Toldjah either has or doesn’t have a rigid personality?

“… all of which indicates you may be suffering …” Hey IM, I just ate at Taco Bell and I’ve got gas – are you concerned about my suffering too?

“I offer this in your best interest …” Who cares what you’re offering? Don’t you get it – no one wants what you’re offering. Just go away please, period.

“I should tell you two more things.” Again, no, you shouldn’t tell Sister Toldjah anything. She told you to go away, so do it. Why are you still here? What is it about your character that you feel you have to stay where you’re not wanted and make thinly veiled threats?

I love the part where he says: “I could start my own Blog and use it as a means to verbally attack you and thereby undermine your efforts.” (Visions of the Blogosphere’s version of Bull O’Riledup vs. Keith Ubermensch come to mind.)

I do not wish to discuss the banned person, but I do wish to say to conservatives here that it is of UTMOST importance that we try to view what we write from the reader’s perspective sometimes.

We need to be persuasivce. This election tells that to us. I’m not saying I’m perfect. By far. But I’m trying to work towards presenting facts in a non-threatening way and appealing to a leftists “caring” nature that I know is there. Trust me as I once was a liberal and I know it is through misinformation that they form their opinions and hearing an alternate viewpoint goes a long way to making their head cock and think to themselves that there may be another way of looking at things….

leaf on the other thread finally saw that was he has repeated (no plan) was untrue. It may go along way towards him not repeating other misinformation that he hears from his sources…

Cordialness is king. Think of it as being in ST’s living room. This is her baby. Every family should be open to hearing criticism from family members and ST has heard differences of opinion. It is when people get ugly in her house and she asks them to stop and they don’t listen when she takes the action of keeping this blog a friendly place to chat.
