I've read a fair amount about the climate in Europe in the years leading up to WWII, and there are some scary parallels between our present political climate and that then existing in France. One case in point:

Paul Reynaud, who became Premier just before the German invasion of 1940, was talking with the writer Andre Maurois The topic was the fierce rivalry between Reynaud and another politician, Daladier.

"Nevertheless," (Maurois) said, "Daladier is certainly a man who loves his country."

"Yes," Reynaud said, "I believe he desires the victory of France, but he desires my defeat even more."

THAT is a great article Sis! Thanks for bringing it up.

I hate today's political climate- I've been called Nazi, Commie, Socialist, Neo-Con, Democrat Republican and all other sorts of sorid nonsense (Yea, IH among others!). It is nearly impossible to speak rationally with other folks about issue nowadays. They are more interested in the "I'm right, you're wrong!" part of the issue than coming to a real solution.

People need to learn to listen, and maybe they'd realize it takes action from most all sides to steer this country in a rational and responsible manner. Rational political discourse is what is needed.

And before anyone resorts to the childish ploy of "They started it!" I can point to instances from both sides that stoked the fires of this flaming idiocy.
