My post-graduate degrees are from Michigan State. It’s been among the vanguard of liberalism at least since the 70s. Decades ago, I quit donating to it after its president used college funds to lobby against a citizen-initiated ballot proposal to cut taxes. It’s less leftist than University of Michigan, but not by much.

I have several friends who claim to be liberals, but I have a problem with the whole liberal agenda. My problem is that it is no longer liberal. To be liberal means that one is open minded. The modern left, is neither open minded or pro-choice. All one has to do to see this is to look at their behavior at college campuses, and the venom of such sites as Daily Kos or Democratic Underground. To the left free speech only applies to them, and others with differing views get shouted down. Pro-choice applies to abortion, but not adoption. It doesn’t apply to school choice, private vs public, social security as a government program, or privatization, so that we can keep more of our money. Peace, or war; being a union member, as opposed to not joining a union; tax cuts for the rich, etc. etc. etc. It is time for us to no longer call the left in America liberals, but to call a spade a spade, and call them leftist. It fits their agenda better.

ST The Dems say it right to protest anyway you want. Parents do not control children. The police are not allowed to control the children. The media encourage the protests as part of the vendetta against the President. The other usual suspects such as Jesse and Sharp tongue encourage protests. Only when the people say stop in a loud voice will this cease.
