Posted by: Sister Toldjah on December 8, 2006 at 9:33 am

Ok ya’ll – today’s gonna be my busy day, so it’s doubtful I’ll be around at all til late this evening. Keep it tuned to Memeorandum for the hot topics being discussed in the blogosphere and I’ll return late this evening to blog about some of ‘em.

Don’t forget, if you haven’t already started voting in the Weblog Awards yet, you can do so now and start by voting in the best of the top 251-500 blogs category ;)

Later, gators.

TGIF!

Sat AM Update: Sorry I never got back around to blogging last night. By the time I got home, it was very late and I was too pooped to be able to write anything that made sense. I’m back to blogging today.

Just voted for ST. Go do the same!!

    2. a haiku that, for no reason whatsoever, imagines Nancy Pelosi as a one of those nubile young starlets, shooting the man in the moon’s eye…..

      Tell it straight Harry,
When you look at my hips hon,
      Do you see Frisco?

(If you liked the poem, vote for ST. Vote for her anyway, even if you didn’t like it.)

On a more somber note, former UN Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick has passed away.

She was a great patriot and uncompromising advocate of freedom during the Cold War years. And, by the way, she was also a Democrat until 1985. That was four years after President Reagan appointed her to the UN post and a year after she made her most famous speech, at the 1984 GOP convention. (Remember the days when you could actually trust a Democrat with foreign policy and national security?)

Back in 1984, she spoke about the “San Francisco Democrats” who “blame America first”. Unfortunately, not much has changed in 22 years since.

Rest in peace, and thanks for a lifetime of service to America.

You’ve got some good competiton. I voted for you. I could use some votes too. I’m in second place by 63 votes to some Feminist liberal blog.

Question for BBH: I missed Protein Wisdom for a few days and during that time monkyboy got banned. What happened? Suddenly the poo-flinger was no more. He must have done something on the level of PIATOR for that to happen!

    6. Dave in CO says:

ST, after my vote you are up to 97! Hang tough!

    7. - Dave…. He just wouldn’t stop with all the anti-American BS….constantly….It was just harshing everyones mello to the point that he got roundly voted out. PW is nothing, if not Democratic. Dan had just had enough. Especially after the “balloon D’fence” thing.

    8. - Hmmmm….the WebAwards site seems to be down…. interesting… too many Leftie blogs taking the gas maybe… If so, can’t you just feel the love and tolorance….

Yes Great White Rat, Ambassador Jean Kirkpatrick will be missed like other past warriors who fought the good fight. FDR for all his faults did fight Hitler and Tojo. Truman also, for all his faults, did fight old Kim and Stalin. JFK and LBJ tried but lost out.

    10. Dana says:

OK, Sis, I just voted for you — again — but you’re still just in fourth place, with 126 votes.

Now, what the heck is wrong? Your site meter says that you are averaging 1,139 hits a day (and 116 just today, at 8:26 on a Saturday morning), and you’ve only got 126 votes? Come on, guys! We can do better than this for Sis!

Get out there, and vote, every day! We can win this thing for our humble hostess!

    11. - ST is now in 3rd, and climbing… Go Sis!!!!

    12. geezer says:

Ok, so you get another one in your column today, ST.

Weird that they only give you one vote per day, regardless of category. Even the MLB was fairer than that!

    13. - Since there’s no Sat. open thread, I’ll post this here….ahem….

I was reading an online account of the shuttle launch that took place this evening, and something amusing near the end of the article caught my eye. Even as a scientist, I found it rather endearing, in a rediculous sort of way.

      - It seems that after decades of scientific endeavor, countless numbers of top engineering talent, the best hardware available from American industry, and untold billions of investment (yes I’m too lazy to google it right now), there is a very basic flaw in the nature of the onboard computers and software, described thusly:

“NASA officials were glad to get the shuttle off their ground since they wanted it back on Earth by the new year.

Shuttle computers are not designed to make the change from the 365th day of the old year to the first day of the new year while in flight. The space agency has figured out a solution for the New Year’s Day problem, but managers are reluctant to try it.”

      - In other words, the shuttle onboard hardware has a sort of “Y2K” problem, except in this case it can’t operate past the end of even a single year. Too funny. Can you imagine the flight crew flying along blissfully, when suddenly the computer moniters all lit up with “Happy New Year….. you just ran out of luck dudes and dudesses…have a nice day”, and then they all shut down. Yikes!, or would that be Y2Ks!. Rut Roh :o
