I have argued with my liberal friends up one side and down the other about how the enemy keeps a close watch on what’s happening here in the US, and most of them just come back at me by saying or implying that AQ doesn’t have time to pay attention to what goes on here. Yeah. As simply one example, the big debate concerning gays in the US is whether they should be allowed to marry, or if another sort of civil recognition is more approriate. The big debate in Islam is whether they should be crushed to death by falling walls, stoned to death, or hurled to their death from a height.

Yeah, I can see how confusing it’d be to tell the two groups apart. ST, you’ll surely let us know as soon as the Right Wing Decency Enforcement Squads show up to confiscate your shoes, confine you to your house, and stuff you into a burka, right? Or will they go for Rosie O’Donnell first (not a job I would take)? Anyway, I’ll vigorously petition the Dark Lord Rove for an exemption in your case.

Most of the left disbelieves we are all in the same boat here. They actually think that if they differentiate themselves from the Red Staters they will be safe. After all, if we just show how reasonable we are, we can all sit down and work things out. The jihadis really want the same things we do, yes?
