[...] 7:34 - The Anchoress sends a link to this Newsweek item showing a Democratic flip-flop on the surge. I agree with her that the Democrats seem to use the automatic-gainsay strategy with Bush about Iraq, but I do recall this article — and it was remarkable because Silvestre Reyes came out so strongly opposed to the Democrats’ policy of defeat and retreat. Has Reyes repudiated his support for the surge today? I haven’t heard. Also, Sister Toldjah has more thoughts along these lines … [...]

Just last night, I believe it was on H&C, that some female Dem strategist or supporter of some kind said that "all the generals oppose a troop surge" or words to that effect. That's kinda like "all the scientists agree about global warming". They never show us the actual polling results. Just sayin'.

The Democrats are - as usual - once again babbling incoherently like a tweaked out dope addict. Drunk on what they perceive as new power, they think that their pathetic attempts to humiliate and weaken the United States is a respectable military strategy.

They are irrelevent. I would suggest that they go back to mandating smoking laws, grease-in-the food and mutilating babies and leave the military and foreign policy decisions to the adults.

MD, our history, much like our voting patterns, is cyclical. Other than those 40+ years after the CW, nearly solidly Repub, America has see-sawed between the two parties for most of the time thereafter. National crises send us one way, and fatigue from the fixers eventually sends us the other way. Those surprised by this trend as it applies today need look no further than a few decent history books not recommended by Noam Chomsky or Al Gore.

I'm personally sick to death of this constant war between lib/con in our country; yet, I know what I believe, and it doesn't begin to gibe with the Pelosis, Murthas, Kennedys and Ah-nolds of this world. Rage against the machine, indeed. A majority of voters put the most incompetent POTUS we've ever had in power in '76. Though it's early, I can't predict enough rage on our part to keep his 21st century equivalent from obtaining her ultimate goal. I'm for Giuliani, but I fear the dreaded "social issues" thing will allow Hillary to sneak right past him and doom us to 4 solid years of misery. What happens then? Hopefully, another Ronald Reagan.

And so it will go, on and on.

I hope this new plan works. It seems that all of its success is going to be based on how the Iraqi people react.

...it just may have to take another Jimmy C. in the White House to get thinking voters back on track.

Pretty much any Democrat running or thinking about running for president in 2008 fits that bill.

Of course, another Peanut Farmer in the White House would also mean a series of foreign policy disasters abroad and one or more 9/11-style terrorist attacks on the home front. And given Democrats' predilection for "recount until Democrats win", voters may not be able to change the country's course.

Sis, it's a scary thought, considering that real lives are in danger every day, but it just may have to take another Jimmy C. in the White House to get thinking voters back on track. We know what we see and hear, but who the hell else does?
