BTW, doesn’t Arkin’s argument almost sound like a flip flop on the traditional liberal “chickenhawk” argument? I don’t know if Arkin’s made the “chickenhawk” argument before, but plenty of other lefties have, and it almost seems strange to have lefties defending Arkin today, because what he’s essentially saying is that their criticisms are not valid because the boots on the ground ‘can’t’ see the war from ‘our overall’ perspective. The chickenhawk argument is exactly the reverse, with it’s meaning that that if you haven’t served yet advocate that others do, you have no credibility on comments you make about war.
