Wednesday open thread
I am currently under the influence of Sudafed – supposedly the non-drowsy version, but you wouldn’t know it by how sleepy I am – as I try to get rid of this nagging cold that won’t let me go. Here’s an open thread for you to discuss the hot topics of the day, until I return, which will hopefully be this evening.

When I take cold/flu pills, and they come in a pair, if I don’t want to get drowsy I usually take a single pill, then wait at least a half-hour to take the second. That works for me. I get the relief and not the sleepiness.
I had the cold-crud earlier, and I hated it! But I survived! Ta-Da!
Sleep, drink lots of liquids, dream of me *ahem!* I mean get well!
Hope you shake the cold eventually, ST. I’m also taking Sudafed. Had a cold, then a stomach virus on top of it yesterday. Now back to the cold primarily.

The Democrats are for less scientific research and development that will discover life saving drugs. Unless they get to control the spending and make the government pay for the research and development I’m sure. Then they can claim THEY are for R & D and Republicans/conservatives are AGAINST scientific R & D.
Oh how their rhetoric never changes…. So, I’ve predicted their argument 10 years from now when drug R & D is needed but companies are less able to because of price controls.
BTW – John Stossel is awesome.
I thought Europe was more concerned about CO2 emissions. Why is it that the “Airbus” makes much more fuel thirsty airplanes than Boeing?
And if socialism (government controlling who gets what resources) is better than capitalism, then why is Airbus laying off 1/5th of it’s workforce and orders are about 50% higher this year for Boeing than Airbus?
Sudafed usually wires people out not the reverse, you’re not taking sudafed plus antihistamines are you? Maybe you have faux sudafed? All of the real stuff being highjacked to make crystal meth.
After work, go home and make yourself a nyquillada and get some sleep!

I’m suffering with ya, Sis…brought home one lousy cold from my CA trip last week. Been feeling like this guy ->

New recipe! I had a NEED for potato salad so I went the fridge to parlay the contents into a culinary delight. One Vidalia short, I made due with onions from my neighbors garden (for the record – he gave them to me) which are a bit hot and I should’ve cut’em much smaller. (As beads of sweat piled upon his brow, he pressed on!)
Anyway, APPLE that’s not as crisp as I like, spuds, carrots, dill pickles, eggs, crazy salt and the forest hunter famous mayo/yogurt dressing (both homemade). Store bought and or salad dressing for those who don’t care for mayo will do. Dressing ratio of mayo/yogurt (I call it maygurt – yoyo is reserved for toys and certain polidrones) according to taste and mustard if ya got it (I had hot onions). I use a 60/40 split yogurt strong.

That sounds pretty good Forest. Well except the yogurt mayo thing, but I have used yogurt in different ways. Have you tried a honey crisp apple, they are pretty good. I love a good Fuji as they are Always crisp. I bet that goes pretty well with a brat too.
I have another idea for a new Chili. My last chili took 2nd place in a local chili cook off. I was pretty happy about that. My new Chili is a chicken chili that I think is going to be wonderful.

This should really read my new idea for a chili is a chicken chili. My actual new chili was a slow grilled Sirloin roast chili with peppers and a touch of sweet BBQ sauce. Took me 4 hours to grill a 5 pound roast. It won 2nd place out of about 35 contestants, and everyone told me that the chili who won, an Italian chili, tasted like spice spaghetti sauce. – Lorica
Recipe for getting well….
- Hot steaming bath filled with Lavender.
- Lights turned off as you soak and only lit by a dozen candles.
- A hot toddy before curling up under a heating blanket and watching a good movie as you drift off to sleep….

I better get back to work. I read blender for lavender and mentally swapped an E for an O in toddy. Fermented palm sap can definitely produce arrack and the big kids know what teddy’s can lead to……BT – hunter out.

Lorica- that sounds yummy! If you had a bottle of my Shoyu and marinated that roast at least one full day, those Italians would have to jump ship! I can’t even get it here in my adopted hometown. I have to order it by the case from Kyushu.
I understand the prob w/American yogurt Lo. Grow your own. No chemicals and articified flavor crap added. I get 20 liters at a time from a local dairymen and SO VERY, very different than anything you’ve ever tasted, GUARANTEED!
