Dear Sister Toldjah readers,

I picked up a bright gem of truth on the Internet yesterday evening. It is printed below in quotation marks. I believe it is the truest statement about our brave Armed Forces...all of them...that is in print in these terrible times. For political reasons, not for anything else, the leadership of the Congress is attempting to defeat our efforts to win against those who would destroy America and all that it stands for. I can't see what they hope to gain by what they are doing other than destroying the legitimacy of the presidency so that they can gain it back in 2008. This Country should pray that we get better leadership than that now in charge of the Congress. I am proud to say that I started my military career with the 3d Infantry Division---a unit that has covered itself in glory in this war; that I served in Viet Nam and later had the chance to lead and work with America's Finest---its National Guard. But if the nefarious leadership of the Congress today gets its way and gives notice to the enemy that we are getting out of Iraq as of a certain date...thereby emboldening our enemies and losing a war we have every chance of winning---the conclusion of the paragraph below will be the result.
--------------------------------------------------
"The US military has not lost a significant engagement in Iraq or Afghanistan. Not a single one. Like the guys in "Black Hawk Down" they go into every encounter knowing that one of them is worth twenty -- no, make that fifty -- of the enemy, in training, shooting, endurance, courage, and decency.

If we are run out of these countries by death squadders with IED's, don't expect America's warriors to say "Thank God my life was saved by Cindy Sheehan." Expect them to be filled with shame that they lost to unlawful combatants inferior to them in every soldierly virtue.

Expect rage against the people who made them undergo the ultimate humiliation of losing. Expect the mother of all funks, and a military bitterness against civilian leadership that will corrode American political life for decades."
------------------------------------------------------

My comment:
A maxim of the medical profession that doctors are urged to follow when considering applying a remedy is: "First, do no harm." It is a maxim that our Congress should follow in the case of Iraq.

Well, back then they hailed the ISG and the fact that Baker was part of it as a "bipartisan" statement on the Iraq war. Now that Baker is speaking out against deadlines they will be bashing him as a right wing warmonger.

Ahhhh, the wonders never cease.
