Defiant Radio Station Will Air ‘Best Of Imus’

CBS/AP) SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. A small California radio station says it would run a “Best of Imus” series next week in defiance of the firing of radio host Don Imus after he made a sexist and racist joke on his nationally syndicated show.

Fred Lundgren of KCAA-AM in San Bernardino, Calif., says his station would kick off the series Monday with the program that ended Imus’ 40-year career, in which he referred to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed ho’s.”

Lundgren said, “I’m not going to let networks dictate to me who I run on my station.”

Another radio station fired its longtime morning DJ on Wednesday after he encouraged listeners to repeat talk-show host Don Imus’ racially charged comments in an on-air contest.

Gary Smith told WSBG-FM listeners to call and say “I’m a nappy-headed ho” for Tuesday’s “Phrase that Pays” contest, said Rick Musselman, executive vice president of station owner Nassau Broadcasting Partners L.P.

Musselman said three of the listeners who called were awarded tickets to a NASCAR promotion at a local club.

Station management reviewed a tape of the broadcast of the “Gary in the Morning” show and fired Smith, Musselman said.

I guess you can’t even make a joke of it, with callers calling in and say what Imus said to win tickets…it can get you fired too.

Kudos to the station playing the Best of Imus.

I deal with some of those nutjobs that post at Radio Equalizer. They have BDS bad. The one I call MoPoop fancies himself a broadcaster of great fame. He has a podcast that only reaches a handfull of people as sick as he is.

To some of these bozos Stalin was a right wing thug.

Anyone remember when Stern was on W-NNN-BC NY and Stern got a monster fine? Imus slammed Stern for his language and also revealed that Imus owned a substantial position of stock in the company that syndicated Stern.

Wanna bet Imus lands on his cloven hind hooves? A market for his sicko shtick exists and advertisers who don’t care where their money comes from will support his show. Howard Stern, who is debatably worse, got a zillion dollar deal on satellite radio. The same libs who love Imus will secretly listen while publicly decrying his verbiage. How things change depending on whose ox is being gored. A month ago, when Imus was yukking it up with Mike Barnicle calling VP Cheney a war criminal, the libs loved him. But this time, he crossed the political correctness line.

But calling him a conservative has got to be the dumbest thing the libs have said since, well, yesterday, I guess. You run down the list of his regular and MSM guests and the closest you come to a conservative is John McCain. What nonsense.

Imus is not a CONSERVATIVE but yes, they are trying to label him as one and this ain’t gonna fly.
What he said was awful but I’d like to see the rev. sharpton follow suit with the rappers that say the same and worse in their songs everyday but that will not happen — its fine that they spew crap daily.
