Democrats Cave on Timetable

In the end, they're too cowardly to fight for anything.

[...] Yes, the Democrats wasted time posturing for their supporters, but that’s the nature of party politics. It’s part of the messiness that is our democracy. Pelosi and Reid are the symptoms. Much of the blame rests with the netroots and anti-war activists who reject America’s national security interests in Iraq. To bad for the nation the Democrats have leaders that are as short-sighted. [...]

It's all choreography. The compromise solution has doubtless already been worked out. Now they're in the process of selling it to the various constituencies.

After all, Kos and the other Stalinists must be able to write that the president "gave in" and Captain Ed (who should know better) must be able to welcome Harry and Nancy to the big leagues (when in fact they're already there).

This morning, I saw a video clip of the Congressional Leaders meeting with President Bush to discuss the "next" Supplemental Bill and seated to the President's left (how appropo) was Harry Reid. And what impressed me at first glance was how Reid LOOKED sitting next to the President. Reid appeared a very little, wounded man.
