Republican candidates running on conservative political principles will not by itself be enough to win elections (thought it would certainly be a huge boost). When the GOP starts making the case for its vision to the public and actually dares to defend itself from attacks by the MSM and their Democrat pets, they will be a force in American politics once again. Not before.

Alas, I suspect that will not happen for a long time. After looking at the current squishy crop of GOP presidential candidates I am not optimistic.

It seems that Republican candidates traditionally try to woo the Left. When they do their polling numbers drop. Do they learn? Rarely! We need Fred Thompson, by golly! Run, Fred, Run!

What will be interesting to watch is how R candidates respond to this.

As far as I can tell there are no true conservatives on the list.

I was in France about a month ago, in Paris and Normandy. Everyone who talked politics was for Sarko!

And, drink French wines – as a group vintners are all conservatives as the government taxes the crap out of them!

Too late! I just replaced my Michelin tires with Yokahamas; I’ve found better American-owned digs to stay in than the Red Roof Inns I sometimes used; and I never was a Brie eater or champagne drinker. If the French do demonstrate some foreign policy decisons that support American foreign policy, not just talk, I could be persuaded to buy Michelins again.

Quite so! When GOP candidates lead with traditional CONSERVATIVE values, they WIN. On the other hand, those given over to displays of fence sitting and spineless rhetoric more often are rewarded with defeat!
